TOMMY!! ALOHA!!!

i could use 2-3 full sets of the Silver/Black with the CC on the bottom

its tempting to change till you take it for a spin and just Like Jermey Clarkson (top gear)
alluded to while talking about the lancia Stratos Kit, the Hawk RF
.....every now and then you catch a glimpse of yourself in a reflection and it starts all over again.

these Mera will never die, so you have to keep it, just to keep it.
heck its even paid for and it looks better than a Vette not as fast granted but better on the MPG.
PLUS LIVING IN HI you are killing me here boss

anyway, good to hear from ya and stay frosty. also pop in a little more will ya!

did you see the Mera Photo Contest??? and the Mera reunion i had here in Michigan??

i been keep your thread hoppin. no slacking here....

later

Daniel

*EDIT*

well seeing as i am the KING of Page 80.....i will edit this little mod i did for my aftermarket temp gauge.
wish it glowed in the dark
tie wrapped to the aluminum panel support bracket.....not too bad it to see it.
during the day facing the sun i can see no problem.hahaaaa

Thanks guys....

You guys are like bros in here (Daniel the little bro from the gut feeling I have)....anyways, thanks to everyone for the help.

Badges? Badges? we don't need no stinki'n badges!.............OH YES I DO.

I am going to store my old faded original badges in a plexyglass frame so here is what I need;

EVERYTHING NEW REPRODUCTION!

M E R A, GTS, 2.8V6, nose (resin covered if possible), 4 wheel hubs (resin covered for sure). Gold in colour (color - for you Americans) with no Corporate Concepts writing. 2 door latches in silver to match the interior with or without CC. Plus I am adding a Pontiac arrow head on the rear driver's side of the license plate.

Thanks for the compliment on the wheels with raised white letters. At first I wasn't sure...but I realy like it now.

As far as you puting your car for sale for 10K, I should get a plane ticket just to come over there and slap some sence in you!

I am fortunate the original owner of my car never removed the Mera emblems. It is great to see that a lot of owners are now removing the Ferrari emblems and going back to the original ones.

Big difference... ... here is Tom's...
I'm guessing the car was painted at one time and the letters were moved....please correct me...

and here is Rick's.... more like I remember mine before I removed the letters for painting.......
I wonder if there was an actual location or if they were just eyeballed....

Wow, that is one excellent observation! That may help explain why I have very slight reddish overspray on some areas of the undercarriage. Maybe my car was repainted by the PO. Dunno for sure. It was red original, since that's what the tag says (Dupont Red with a number code), but it would be hard to tell I guess, red on red. Well if that's the case, my letters are in the wrong place!

its funny you say that.....i do not think i have any pictures i took of Mera X with the F-Car Badges it came with.

the only pics i have with Ferrari Badges on it were form the Ebay add.....from which i won!!

my 2 cents on the MERA trunk letters is colser the better, but i like everything tight

i will not put the trunk letters on till i have proof i am a Mera. ohhh and i find some in the junkyard

anyway i like my homemade one....i think it works.
if it was a little shorter in length, i could have centered it more, but it does not fit.
i was thinking of moving it to the other side up high where the 2.8 V6 is to go.....still out to lunch on that.

i also have both of Toms nose emblems in Black and/or the OEM Silver border.
i will use the black one on the nose till i get a Number also.

after i get a Mera # i will install the silver border one with the CC on the bottom. the real 1987 Mera badges.
so see i wont even replicate a Mera, till i am Mera.

you know Tom i thought you said it was repainted, but found your old sale add form a while ago and edited my earlier post to reflect that you do not mention it.

but last year, when i took your Paint code to get a match on my car it did not match up. Mine is darker than yours.
i hardly have any over spray on Mera X and if it is its black....so there may have been some work done on both of our cars hope not
i got damage up front, i am missing the three holes in front of the radatior. thats next on the fix list. after Brakes and suspention.

getyasum!!

Maybe I can help out a bit on the original MERA letters location. I have a couple of photos of an 87 Mera that had never been repainted and it still had the original nose badge and letters in place. I never measured the exact location, but you can extrapolate it fairly well with these pictures.

Julian,

When I purchased my car I was assured by the original owner that every emblem was original to the car and none had ever been removed. I believe this to be true. With that being said, I can tell you the letters are not perfectly centered. So, i think the eyeball method was used to put them on originally. Being the "picture straightener" I am, I took precise measurements. Eventually the letters will be carefully removed, and re installed so they are perfectly centered. The only thing keeping me from doing this is that the paint under the letters may be slightly darker. Then I would have to deal with a "shadow" effect. Or, I just paint the entire car. I am not sure how well red can be blended. Anyone had any spot paint work on their Meras?

Looking at Nelsons white Mera, I would say ours seem to be mounted in the same area on the decklid.

No big deal Tom. I can send you the measurements on my letters. Just carefully remove the letters and reposition them.

I am going to do this on mine anyway since they are not perfectly centered. Damn, I hate being a "picture straightener"......things like this drive me nuts.

I am working on my second batch
but need some bloody sun!!!!

they let my aftermarket wheels slide Rick, so i do not think you NEED to put the caps on if you dont want to.
they are still OEM Cromodoras. Mock up 2 Mera center caps, if you do not have them and away.....OEM MERA!

OK, OK, I sent some in, but the only difference since Bob Anderson owned the car is cactus replacing Jay Leno in the pics. On the plus side, I may have the only Mera in Saguaro land.

Nice picture Richard! Did you paint the two back louvers behind you headlights black? In the pics Dan sent of the three Mera's one had the whole headlight cover painted back. Did CC do this on some cars?

No, I always thought that was a Mera discriminator--maybe not. My car was repainted, in the late 90's I think, note the black on the lower rear fenders--also my color is Dodge Flame Red. Pretty close match to the original red though.

Dan, the fact that it's an '85 rules out it's a MERA. Kits do not tend to have the Ford reverse lights or the hidden side marker lights. Good deal for $1000 if it runs.

yeah i know that part, maybe it was a Mera salvage. the lights look to be Mera1, the rear bumper looks good and the head light covers...i was just saying

.....and still wonder how legal it is without reverse lights.

WISH I COULD!!! its been so crappy, cold and cloudy.....rain. hell, we got 4in of snow last week....its killing me!!

they had a clearence on a run of the mill GE A1455. $40. 60% off. so i scooped it up.
the other camera i was using is a rock compared. this new one has all kinds of editing and panoramaic settings.
looks to be high tech i hope it has things like color filters for that "TopGear" look.......

i mean i got that old camera in 1998 so this new one is a Ferrari 599 next to that 308 GT4 Wayne found. maybe the engine for a swap hunmmmm.......anyway, i am awaiting pics of that "Kit" but someone has their eyes on it and is holding up the train.

also we got a Regional Ferrari Club gathering over on this side of the state the weekend of May 21st so that camera will get used......i am going to see how many F-Cars i can get pictures of, with Mera X. weather they know it or not......

that other "Mera" replica that Wayne found, i think is a scam its been in there foor a while and it used to ping on multipel craigslist sites.....with the same low descript........that was discovered when "CraigsLook" was still avaliable.....

laters, forecast calls for "Partly Cloudly" so we shall see.......
