Let me get this straight...... are you saying that back in the late 80's when I ordered a MERA I can order a Fiero with no leather and have it refitted to leather at CC???? That makes no sence. Why would I not just order one with leather and save $$$??? Let CC do the body restyle. I guess if you wanted the cool GTS seats you had to order the CC leather job. Are we all positive about this? Rodney?
As I understand, you could not get leather in the Formula, but you could get a Formula Mera with leather.
Pwn the page!

Julian,
In 88 the only Fiero available with factory leather was the GT. Since CC used 88 Formula's for all but 6 of their 88 conversions, they could install their own leather interior and make additional profit. My Mera has the factory leather you see in the last picture. This particular Mera was custom ordered as a GT along with the optional factory leather. I am sure CC would have rather installed their own leather, but it made no sense to do in my car.
Yeah, got the pics--nice! I think the upholstery and the two-tone dash are just the differences between the GT and the SE--interesting that they re-carpeted both cars. I have the same floor mats, too--do you think those were included in the package?
Richard,
Actually my car has the factory Beechwood Fiero carpeting, not the Mera cut pile carpet. It does not show up well in the picture I sent you. They look like the carpets on the last interior picture at the bottom of the previous page. The floor mats were purchased by the original owner, and are sitting on top of the stock Fiero floor mats. I am using them as sacrificial mats to protect the originals. I am not sure if all 88 Beechwood GT's have the two tone dash but it would make sense that they did. Both my other 88 GT's had the Grey interiors.

That is CC leather. Factory leather only had the vertical pleats like on my car.
uhoh....are you serious?? wonder how long the Reverse F-Car Mera seats lasted??
I'm curious, if there was the avalibility to get either the stitch or the smooth in a Mera? i used to think that all smooth leather was FIERO leather, not Mera and all Mera 87 and 88's had the stitch. till i noticed that no 88's had the stitch at all. that was awhile back....tho.
very interesting......if that #7018 is one of the first with smooth leather i will just die....Mera X 1 of 17 with Reverse Stitch Mera seats.
this car of mine is still throwing out zingers left and right. GOOD BUY

One of my 88 Meras (the GT) has a stock manual trunk release. The other 88 Formula based Mera does not have a conventional remote trunk release but has been modified to incorporate a remote release located near the passenger side tail light.
Perhaps, but if so, they did a great job--replacing the instrument cluster surround, and using the correctly coded wire. The only hint might be that the flexible cable bundle from the firewall to the solenoid appears to be missing. This normally would be out of sight through most of its run in a trunk lid liner channel, but should show at both ends. OTOH, this could be true of all Meras.
lets star a new topic... twhy do you like your mera or mera's?
I always loved the "exotic" (for an American car) sound of the V6 5-speed Fiero's going thru the gears. Add the Mera bodywork, a Hawaiian shirt, shorts, the "Magnum" theme music, a little hair dye (still have not gotten up the nerve) and I am a happy guy!

hahahahaaaa..... really?? hahahaaaaa!!!!!
where to start? ..........The Adventure! the Mystery that is Mera. the Journey from spur of the moment, impulse, E-Bay buy and hating that i may have bought a "Kit Car" to finding the ProtoType and noticing a path of clues/evidence pointing toward a very early Mera for Me
until i find otherwise, i got my eye on #7002 and i got pictures if there is a debate to the contray. thats why i dig these Mera. still a uncharted history that we all here have, and a good grasp on what makes A Mera a Mera!!
good post Leeezard......

I just posted info in the mall for an e-Bay auction for a set of Chromadoras. The guy also has GTS letters, front bumper, door tab emblems, etc) that could also be for sale. Contact me and I will give you the contact info for him if you want to make a purchase from him.
now, i think the new Camaro is hokey, but this i would own! and add a better paint more wild paint. I would START with them plain rear fender gills. i would paint them red or something then a stripe on the hood over to the trunk.....or maybe a red Grand Sport " / / " oooooooh even better..... two red lightning bolts for the SS package
While I'm a Pontiac guy, I work for a Chevy store. I always drove T/A's but without Pontiac, a Camaro fills the bill. Let see factory polished 21's. E-Force super charger and loaded Black SS. Very nice! Are both Camaro's yours?
We delivered a Synergy Green one here with the Green interior treatment also. It's a stick. We had one of the 500 Indy Pace Car Convertibles (for about an hour). Just got in the new White Synergy Package SS. I'm waiting to order new ZL1's as soon as we can. Also a new Bumblee Package is available for a limited time.

Thank you very much Rick. Yes both are in the barn and really aren't driven very much but go places that count. (still less than 2k each) Bought them like a month apart or so and the black one already needed restored at 599 miles. It still has the Texas State inspection sticker in the window.
Speaking of T/As, there is a non restored 79 in the barn too but I'll get to it sometime, someday . . .

Don't get me started on T/A's. Still have my 72 HO-455. It needs attention but runs great! Our owner has a new Hennessy 750 Camaro SS. That thing is wild!

OK, I have a worsening "chuggle" and slight surge in no-load cruise.
As for the chuggle, I believe it's the TCC. Ran the car in 2nd (third gear switch cuts out the TCC solenoid) at about 40mph with the cruise control on--smooth. Disconnected the TCC at the transmission--smooth. So, the solution is to replace the TCC, which is inside the transmission case. No biggie on a Fiero, but the Mera fender liners may prove difficult--we'll see. The TCC is responding electrically, obviously, so I may shoot some Seafoam Trans Tune in there to see if it's just gummed up.
Checked out the EGR and the EGR solenoid and they test good with a Mighty Vac; however, I'm not convinced the EGR is not the problem. If I disconnect the EGR and plug the vac line--no surge. If I unplug the vac line (this put the solenoid back in play)--still no surge. Think I'll replace the EGR and see what happens.
I can't help with the auto trans issue since all my Fieros have been sticks. How old is the EGR on your car? Have you removed it to see if it is carboned up? How about the EGR tube itself? I replaced my tube with one of the braided steel flex tubes. I found the EGR was pretty dirty so I cleaned it and replaced the gaskets.

Input?
What is your RPM surge? 50, 125, 250? These are the most common RPM change values I have run across with the 125 auto. When you checked your EGR with vacumn did you just check the valve? Did you inspect both ends of the tubing for cracks or check vacumn through the tubing from the solonid? The line could be cracked under the intake from heat where you can't see it.
Since you unplugged the TCC and had smooth running I would do as you plan to run some Seafoam through it though normally if the tcc locks up rarely does it cycle on and off but it can if the coil is weak or it has some sludge build up.
(et) I haven't looked in the area of the inner well liner on the Meras for clearance as all mine are manuals too but I can't see just thinking about it that there would be any difference with the regular bodied cars.

The surge is barely perceptible, and noticeable only on the level at constant throttle. I vacuum checked the EGR at the valve and through the line, with the engine running and stopped, with the valve mounted and unmounted. Also checked the EGR solenoid engine off and running in gear at 2000 rpm.
