Yes, but not the Pontiac dealership--of course. Tom Matsumoto knows more.

Hello Dan. Do you have a "clean" copy of that MERA sales promo? ( Now how did I not think of that?)

it was my hope to make everyone here a copy, but i do not know how to convert DVD to a postable format for the PFF.
then on top of that i had to reboot my computer so now i cannot make copies to disc anymore either.....i have no time till i get laid off to figure a "back door" into the PFF. the sloppy copy is the best a freind could do as far a converted, postable link. sorry.

i am working on it but not as hard as the construction job for now.....

Daniel

Man I go out on assignment for a week or two and you guys add like four pages!

OK, Dan added most of them, but heck, now I have to check: my seats, my trunk release, my carpet, back-up light screws, steering wheel, radio system...am I missing anything? Sorry we couldn't meet up in MI, Dan, it took me until now to finish the story! FYI we ended up in Frankenmuth in time for their big parade, in fact we were in it! We also got caught in that freak'n hail storm, NOT fun on a motorcycle. Don't forget to PM your address for that antenna ball, the cat tried to eat it twice this week

Answers: #8002..Seats Leather (tan) with fabric sides (stock Fiero GT?). trunk release-yes. carpet-looks like oatmeal. back-up screws-philips. steering wheel-three spoke (now Nardi Wood). Radio-am-fm-cass with prem sound. And yes it is titled as a 1988 Fiero GT.

Had it at a show on the 4th, one of 1,000 cars, and the only one of either kind. The people got a real kick out of my "extras:" Magnum drivers license, ROBIN 2 plate, rubber chicken, Hawaii road map. And I dressed in the iconic & correct Jungle Bird shirt, Detroit Tigers baseball cap, proper wristwatch, and....cross of lorain ring! Now you know why I leave the Ferrari tags on it...ta,ta,ta..da.

8011 is optioned exactly like 8002 except I still have the stock GT steering wheel, and my reverse light screws are straight not phillips like the ones posted in the pictures in the thread. Apparently all the GT chassis cars were built very early on in 88.

Wayne, you need to post pics of your car at the show along with you in your "outfit"

That, could be...frighting. Picture Tom Selleck 7 inches shorter and the same weight. But I am a few years younger, not richer.
Wayne

P.S. My car FYI, came from Pittsburg Texas, anywhere near you?

Wayne,

I just get a kick out of how much fun you have with all the Magnum history. I'm 6'1", would have to dye and curl my hair, grow a much bushier mustache, work out a lot more, ask everyone to squint from 50 feet after a few tequilas, and maybe I could be mistaken for a short Magnum.

Is Pittsburg close to Dallas? If so, El Paso is closer to Los Angeles. Yes........Texas is that big. How long have you had your Mera? My Mera was originally was purchased from a Pontiac dealer in Florida.

If you think of Peter Falk in a Hawaiian shirt, with a mustache-yeah, that's close.

My Mera, was first sold in Illinois, then the owner moved to Florida, put on 25,000 miles, then sold it to the fellow in Texas on Sept 9, 2006 for $25,000.00!!! I bought it in 2009, it cost me my 1998 Mercedes SLK 230 and $3,000.00 ( I never really liked the SLK). I have been collecting "Magnum pi" stuff since then, even sent out the the glove "pouch" for him to sign

As for photos, I can't use the system here on PFF (it's a Mac thing) but I can e-mail them, in fact Danny Boy has a few of mine.

ha, you guys too funny.

sup yo?? my tornado sirens went off, early monday i hear (I was at work) and i had no power for the last 2 days....miss me??

check this out i was on the roof of a ConAgra building in GrandRapids, MI when it hit!!
http://www.wwmt.com/article...0-many-possible.html
i saw the SchoolCraft one on the radar at work...i live 4 miles from Schoolcraft to the south and 3 miles from where it looks like a "war zone" at the north. right in the middle, me house is. barley a branch and i have 4 dead trees....

i saw GangBoxes full of tools slide off the walk way and end up flipped!! i held fast to the scaffold all the way down. 4 flights with 10 foot landings each flight....took minute's, almost. usually takes seconds. completely soaked in that minute! TOTALLY AWESOME!!
thats "high speed rain/Hurricane force wind"off the list now for a Tornado.
bet i got Mike, in Tornado alley beat, as far as power outages maybe. i should call him.

http://www.wwmt.com/article...hit-newschannel.html
KentWood is where the Airport is and i work across from the Airfield. i live in Kalamazoo County....40-50 miles away! Damn double wammy.

even saw, what may well be the AirForce plane that dropped off the Hearse for the Betty Ford Funeral.
actually the Plane with her remains will fly into that very same Port, tomarrow.
the Plane i saw was Large, Black and like this one i think.

saw it twice. in and out.....that was yesterday, tho....
i snapped that photo when Obama came to town last time last year....cool

Wayne?? Permission to post if i can find the Magnum photo? (that i still think is the real deal??) so close it still fools me

laters for the

Well folks.... my first car show of the year is this Friday. It will be held on the front lawn of Ford Motor Company. Last year 8071 got a lot of looks as well as a lot of "excuse me sir, but imports are suppose to park across the sreet". LOL. I'll take pics.

Rick, I just got this in my e-mail and thought of you:

TEXAS DROUGHT

It's so dry in Texas that the Baptists are starting to baptize by
sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians
are giving out rain-checks, and the Catholics are praying for the
wine to turn back into water.

Wayne,

That is too funny! Also, it must have been good luck, as we got our first real rain last nignt! It has been well over 100 days without significant percipitation. For us, significant is a half inch! We are now officially in our "Monsoon" season.

Wayne!!! why have you not registered it there?? thats where i get the info on you guys'es Meras

one day i hope to be in there
its amazing how years ago i thought i had a" NO" Mera and now where i may stand *HOPES #7002* is a long way from there.

Mera#8005 saying he has read this whole thread.....well its got me thinking. I am goingto re-read the thread to see some of the things that Have panned to the early Mera, maybe in my garage. to find #7002 is AWOL is what i had hoped for.....a very early hole in sequence for the mysterious "Mera X" to fill. so fun to still be in the race!

thanks guys...but now i have a dilemma...8005 is in newport beach 40000 miles...stock engine...dont like the sound but i could take care of that...original rims are gone..has some funky black infinity rims..dont like them...but could change those as well..also the vitolini mirrors are gone..replaced with red bravos......she was asking 16000 ..went back and forth for awhile..got it down to 12500 because of above..does have t-tops which i like...................................................................................now today i get a call back from the guy in harbor city that owns #7018..verified...sunroof....5 speed though which i like....nicer rims im not sure which...109000 miles though ..but i have the cash to swap that eventually......car sounds decent....and nicer interior.......#8005 has the gray leather and sweade........The reserve on ebay for #7018 was 9000...hes willing to sell for 7500....................................what to do...and last minute advice would be cool...maybe ill just flip a coin......................... he is willing to drive it to me..thats a plus...................anyway if i take 7018 do i need to change my profile name?lol

There was also a yellow 87 t-top 5-speed for sale in southern California for a long time. I think it is down to around 10K It looks nice but the engine needs a good cleaning. Dan do you still have the link?

He has had this car listed for a long time. If you wave cash he might match the price of the other car you are looking at. I don't know how many T-Top Meras were produced. If the seals are good it would be a nice find. If not, I would stay away from it. Pull a Carfax if you are serious on any of them.

T-tops rule! But as I understand, seals aren't cheap--and, there are two kinds, CBJ and non-CBJ. Can any of you T-toppers confirm this?

Julian,

My Meras were purchased singly over a 10 year period so it was not at very excessive. The excessive part of the cost is that all of them were project cars and restoration eats up lots of cash.
