Guys...need some original speakers for my 88 MERA...speaker number is 16019282 and they are the 4x10 ones. Need some NOS ones or really good condition ones to bring my MERA back to stock. After digging into the dash to fish out these incorrect ones I am going to replace them once correctly! Don't want to do it again! PM me if you have a set you are willing to part with. Cheers!

Check your battery connections Dan, my guess is at the starter.

Or your solonid is taking a crap on you.

Dan,

Heat soaked starter is the most likely possibility. I also had a similar problem with a F308 rebody when my ignition module was going bad.

I adjusted the deck lid and it fits better but is still slightly high. Julian must have the same problem. The plastic side "square offs" for the trunk opening have a convex curve on the side where the decklid weatherstrip attatches. Perhaps mine are evenly warped. If they were straight across my lid would sit perfectly. Can anyone take pics of their trunk "square off's" with out the weatherstrip attached?

Yeah Dan, I agree with Nelson, I had the same problem with a big block car I had, others I know used to use a spray bottle to cool theirs off. I am sure the heat we have been having is not helping. Stay cool.

Mera X even got some coverage!!

its been a good few days with awesome car spotting lately, besides the same 3 Fieros in GrandRapids......
yesterday saw an Audi R8 at a body shop, so on my way home from work i try to hook up a photo or two with the R8 and i see (and he sees me and X) a badass looking Porsche 9-something. looked real tough, not sure what it was but it had the huge "whaletail" spolier.....crazy sweet.

I'd love to, but I'm not sure what you want a photo of. Describe what the "square off" is.

They are the right and left plastic side pieces that convert the round trunk opening to square on the fiero trunk that are installed on the GT's

Well, my GT is gone, RiP, so I can't relate as my Mera is a Formula. But, I'd like to see the pics anyway.

uh oh!! i had better get a rental car

since i have been enjoying my spirited Mera X Mornings.....i think i may have broken it

now when i punch it from a dead stop, it dies. and seems my starting problem may be the starter.

it was an hour and it still would not even click....well PFF'er "WhatAboutBob" stopped by and chatted but ultimately showed me where the starter was...well a few taps with the vice grips and it turned over. Big Ups To Ole Bob!!! CHEERS!

so its a loose wire or a new starter for me, but that stalling problem seems wrong. its like its flooding or something.

i get the day off tommarrow so its going to be looked at as well as the lawn mowed....whoops

i told you i have been working a lot of OT just not on the lawn

Thanks Nelson, I think the side pieces have an intentional curve molded in for the weatherstrip to follow so it will conform to the original GT decklid.

My Mera is a Formula and I have those plastic inserts on each side of the trunk. They are craked probably from the last owner slamming the trunk with the weather stripping and trying to get it to line up. I removed the weather stripping and they do not contact any more.

Dan, did you fall down again taking pics? LOL I told you that you need to look where you're going.

OK Mera owners, here is something interesting..... we all know that the amber rear lights are on the outside and red on the inside.... but what lights up when you: break, turn signal, running lights, running lights and brakes, four way emergency flashers? and for the bonus question....what does a Ferrari 308 light up on the same question?

Finally has anyone heard about the Mera photo contest yet?

Rick sent me pics of his trunk side panels, I thought I would post mine (#8046 Formula) for comparison--also, my rear filler panel. The GT panels certainly give a nice finished look. Rick advised that his pics are from his GT, not the Mera.

Oh no, not the tail light question again! We battled this one in this posting before Julian. Outcome: as many answers as owners!!!!!!! My amber's blink...on one side, red on the other!! Now both amber's blink, and guess what with that "rats nest" of wires back there, that's how their staying-HA.

How did my reply end up in the Quote????

Julian, on further inspection, my plastic inserts have small cracks as well. I am going apply some silicone as I don't want them to leak water into the trunk. Do your plastic inserts have a curve to them where the weatherstrip attaches?

On my car, only the brake lights light up with the brakes applied or headlights on. Only the orange turn signals flash with the signal, or emergency flasher along with the front turn signals and just the front side makers. Since my car was a GT to begin with, it had separate rear orange turn signals, instead of being tied in with the the red brake lights like the Formula based cars.

On the bonus question, I would guess a 308 lights up just like my car...unless both side markers flash with the turn signal or flasher. I would like to do that on my car when I install LED side markers.

Rats!! I did not get page 100. Playing the odds I'd bet on Dan to be top of the page......

if memory serves all my rear lights (cept the reverse, of course) light up when the brakes are applied, similar to the real Ferrari 308, i think

i am not sure about the side marker lights but my back ones dont light up at all.
when my brakes are applied both red and ambers light, one side is solid the other blinks to indicate a turn. with the flashers on they all blink too. the 3rd brake light is also on....Remember this little ditty??

I'll try to get some pics today.

Now you guys got me thinking.... I want a GT rear wire harness. I hate seeing the ambers come on with the brakes,

------------------
Julian - MERA #8071

edit......

Can I get confirmation that a GT rear light harness will seperate my blinkers to be only the ambers?

....as for my pick on who gets page 100, I would have to go with the guy who has only been on the forun for 2 years and has over 2500 posts (3.5 posts per day, EVERY day) over the a guy like me who had just over 300 posts in 11 years. YUP...I pick Dan-da-man.

OK, some pics finally.

First a pic of the drriver side plastic trunk insert, pointing to the crack probably by the previous owner forcing the deck lid down with the rubber weather stripping. Notice I removed the stripping and life is good. Both sides are cracked and yes it is curved upwards.

Next is a pic of my badges back on the car.... not sure why I took the pic..... but it was there and I had my camera.

Finally a pic of where my Mera was damaged (between my 2 fingers) by the first owner. I think they forced the trunk lid all the way up and it made contact on both sides of the roof. I since repaired it and re attached the linkage that does not allow it to open that far.

Nice pics, Julian. From the reflection in the rear window, appears your deck is gloss black between the grilles. ?

Pages appear to change at about 1160 lines of HTML code. An entry may run 10-20 lines. All entry text including image references can be on one line so "rendered" length may not be a factor. This is just a guess and I'm not a web coder--for what it's worth.

Now you guys got me thinking.... I want a GT rear wire harness. I hate seeing the ambers come on with the brakes,

Only my reds come on when I brake, ambers only when flashing--directionals or emergency.

The car is all yellow other than the lower rocker panels. My window tint is as dark as I could get before going to "limo privacy". I think it's called "Mafia Tint". That is pobably why it looks like that.

Julian,

Interestingly, anything you type below your signature doesn't show in a quote.

So your formula has amber blinkers ONLY and red brakes ONLY!.... All 4 do not light up when you break.... and your running night lights are red and amber.....correct?
That is the way I think it should be...... but mine is not.

VERY INTERESTING....BUT STEWPID.

I just did a quick count on the the number of posting it takes to fill a page. With or without photos, 40 is the "Magic Number."
Go for it Danny Boy!

If correct, only 3 more post to 99.
