HI all

Search for forum member "SkiTime"..... I think the title of his thread is: A history of skitime's car..... He did all his own work, cept for paint, and his install is very clean as well....

Also agree with fierocious too.....

edit to add....... Thas fastfieros.com..... An the link for skitimes thread.. A bit long on the read, but well worth it!! https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum3/HTML/000073.html

That is a clean install! You can't even see the bolts for the SC! J/K, your attention to detail wouldn't allow anything but a clean install, so you get my vote!

I should have one of the cleanest installs when complete. Everyone will see some custom items that have been done before but not quite like this. Just a teaser...

Patience, my young apprentice....

I concur with what others have stated, Loyde has some of the cleanest installs out there.

I saw Vrossiter's car after he picked it up from the guru. It's BY FAR the cleanest swap I've ever seen. Can someone post a pic of his engine please? I know there's got to be a few floating around here.

Got a question for you 3800sc guys...

I noticed some have the deck lid notched and some do not; why?
Are some ppl using higher motor mounts?
Does the Gen. I II III have anything to do with it?

I am toying w/ the idea of doing a 3800sc swap and would like to know as much as possible about it...

Thanks,
AL

Intercooler upgrade. The intercooler plate goes between the SC and LIM and raises the top of the engine by something over 2 inches (depending on IC vendor)
The SC snout and TB air intake may interfere with the decklid then

look closer...most of the notched swaps have intercoolers thus the SC sits up higher...this makes it necessary to notch decklids to clear....tim

Ahhh, forgot about the aftermarket IC's ppl add...

So does the "high-mount" alternator need a notch, or does it clear...

Also, you said it "may" need to be notched if using an IC... Is this always true? Or is it possible to fit an IC w/o notching the deck?

There are several possible combinations of enginemounts and IC height... a ZZP short stack "may" fit without notching the decklid but fullsize intercoolers seem to need the notch..

I agree with JScott about Loyde having probally the cleanest swaps around...This is who I modeled my swap after and the few other swaps that I have done. He hands down has the cleanest wiring and has came up with products to make the swap the cleanest it can be.....

The install referenced by jscott1 one does have an intercooler but no notching was required because the Mera has some additional deck lid clearance.

No more pics?!

How are u guys hiding all the wires? Some you can't even see the plug wires!

Well, I have gone and dun it... Picking up a 98 Bonneville 3800sc on Saturday. Motor has 58k on it and the price was right. Going to mate it up to a 5spd and going to put it into my 88gt.

I have done some preliminary research on motor mounts and alternator locations. I like the low-mount alt. set-up; however, the brackets seem kind of pricey ($300+). Any one know of a "good" alternative at a reasonable price? Also, am I going to need a different dog bone bracket? Think I read somewhere I need to use one from a GTP? If that’s true, what year and/or other info would I need when sourcing one?

Thanks and hopefully I will be posting my 3800 pic 4 ya!
