That is a good idea. I'll talk to my friend and check the status. They said they had a plan, so it may not still be an issue. I'll post tho or PM if they end up being truly stuck.
So has anybody come up with a destination for our cruise or a route? I have an idea of one it will be a nice one w twisty turns and lots to see and have good places to take pics I think this sunday I am going to drive it to make a map
Hey guys have fun on your club tour/get together, I won't be able to make it next weekend. I do plan on being more available for such outings come early spring time. I can maybe take a peek at Bigjake's car some time during the week if it can be arranged and is so desired with some of you all before Friday as I will be out of town after that. I'd love to shoot the S#$@ with you guys in person if I could only find the time. I have more time available weekdays for such things right now, but hopefully that will change soon.
Hey Rob if you're planning a pre run road trip this Sunday give me a call, I have some free time available, call me or pm me or message me here and maybe we can hook up
Let me know if a peek at Bigjakes car is arranged and I'll try to show up and meet some of you. As of right now I've only met Jets/Rob and Rams/Chris, I'd love to meet the rest of you as well, it's much more fun for me to b.s. about cars and such with Fiero people in person than on here. If I don't get the chance to meet you all over Bigjake's car have fun on the get together next weekend guys and gals

hey Rob sorry I missed hooking up with you. I checked here in the am and nothing was here so I went and did some stuff with the kids. I should have called I guess, anyways, I'm thinking of changing the style of my headlights and MAY not need to build a new nose. The lights will still be in the same location but just a different style. Have fun getting that vette together. Let me know if checking out Bigjake's car is arranged. Talk to you later
Ok, who wants the address? My friend said y'all can stop by pretty much any time on Sat. So if y'all are planning on making it a stop let me know so i can forward the info to him. Thanks

Take a drive around Wisconsin’s largest inland lake and you’ll discover 88 miles of contrasting shoreline. If you want to drive around the lake, plan on at least half a day. A good driving plan for photographers is to start in the morning in Fond du Lac at Lakeside Park and follow Highway 151 north (on the east side of the lake). One of your first stops should be at COLUMBIA PARK about 10 miles out of Fond du Lac off Highway 151 on County W at Pipe. This park has boat launches, a playground, a pavilion and an 80‚ observation tower. As you drive north along Highway 151 you will see many signs to Lake Winnebago beaches, but save your time until CALUMET COUNTY PARK (about 30 miles northeast of Fond du Lac) and HIGH CLIFF STATE PARK (about 34 miles northeast of Fond du Lac). You will find the others are just semi private drives with rather limited or no public access. Head north a few miles to CALUMETVILLE. Turn left on Weber Road toward Artesia Beach and about a mile later, turn right on Lake Shore Road. It’s a beautiful, lake country drive. If you do not turn on Weber Road, Hwy 151 will branch off to the east. TAKE HIGHWAY 55 to stay along the lake. About nine miles north of Calumetville is the town of STOCKBRIDGE. On COUNTY HIGHWAY EE turn left to Calumet County Park (watch for signs). This park is a hidden treasure with picnic areas, grills, campsites, nature study areas, a concession stand, and many other relaxing things to do. Take Highway EE back east to Highway 55 north (left) a few miles and follow the signs to HIGH CLIFF STATE PARK. This park offers camping, a beach, hiking trails and a marina. When you leave High Cliff Park, catch HIGHWAY 114 and 55 north (beginning to go to the west side of the lake). Stay on HIGHWAY 114 through Menasha to Neenah. At the intersection of Highway 114 and COMMERCIAL STREET, travel south on Commercial Street which becomes HIGHWAY A. Travel south on Highway A to Oshkosh. If you want to stay along the lake, turn east onto MURDOCK STREET and stay on Murdock to MENOMINEE DRIVE travel south to WASHINGTON AVENUE, turn west to MAIN STREET then travel south on Main Street which turns into HIGHWAY 45. Along Highway 45, between Oshkosh and Fond du Lac, there is a wayside if you need to stop. Highway 45 will bring you back to Fond du Lac along the west side of the lake.
hey good idea about cruisin bago, its actually what i had planed on too, we start from here in menasha at waverly beach and make our way around stopin at high cliff for pics and a rest stop for our cars and again at calumet county park then we make the bend around fondulac and come to the park in oshkosh them take detour to see jakes car and back on route to the lake road and on sound good? its the route the corvette drive round the lake follows so i know it pretty well.

Meet somewhere in Appleton or Menasha early am like 930?
Go for a good warm up run to work out any possible bugs and the risk of overheating by running to Highcliff State Park (daily admission roughly 10 bucks IIRC statepark stickers = Free entry) from there to Calumet County Park off of Lake Winnebago.--- I have been there for many Graduation Parties and it offers a great scenic and family get together setting.
From there we could all go to Kettle Morraine State Park for some Hiking and awsoem picture taking or sit down and have a Picnic on the grounds?

I assume you're referring to the route often taken by Valley Vettes, a club which I formerly belonged to.
That route is quite scenic, but doesn't at least the lead car require a sticker or a permit to escort the others through High Cliff State State Park? Mine was never the lead car, and I don't recall needing a sticker during any of that club's annual trips circling Lake Winnebago that took us through High Cliff State Park, but being that it is a state park, a "day sticker" ($7.00?) otherwise would be required, would it not?
Of course, stopping 100+ Vettes after they violated any state park sticker requirement probably is something one park ranger is not likely to want to attempt on his own, but cops do have radios to call for reinforcements...and if they wanted to be photo-op-seeking jerks about it, I'd think the "Valley Vettes Trip Around the Lake" would have been the ideal venue for them to appear on a 6:00 P.M. TV news broadcast about how they pulled over 100+ "criminals" in Corvettes. Nonetheless, we never had any legality problems with the cops in our Corvettes during the annual "Valley Vettes Trip Around the Lake," so I'd hope someone knows how to avoid potential law enforcement problems with our newly emerging Fiero club as well.
By the way, as you probably know, Calumet County Park, just a couple miles south of the more well-known High Cliff State Park, also is quite scenic, so if need be, we could just skip High Cliff and stop at Calumet County Park instead. (As of earlier this summer, when I was last there, Calumet County Park had no sticker requirement.)
Umm guys, remember us outa towners that have to drive 35-45 minutes to get to Menasha before the ride even starts. How long of a ride is the tour around the lake? How many cars are we going to have?

Pssh. It will take me a good 2 hours to get up there. No worries here! though 9:30 might be a tad early. And the route sounds good guys! (I'm not worried about 7 bucks or even forking over for an annual sticker.)
About one month ago, on October 4, 86fierofun posted an easy-to-use, on-line mechanism to vote for one's favorite logo for our newly emerging "Fox Valley Fieros" club:

On October 6, I suggested, and 86fierofun agreed, to a very generous time limit for this "Fox Valley Fieros" logo election:

Originally posted by project34: I just voted as well, and the setup 86fierofun created to do that (see above link) makes the process painless.
I propose, however, that we set some specific cut-off date for this logo election to keep this from dragging on forever. For example, I'd think this arbitrary cut-off date would be more than generous: The 2010 national election in November. That gives people roughly a month to respond to our logo election. If they haven't voted on our logo by that date, then...
That person's late vote doesn't count, and...
Pray like hell that no one you know ever needs an ambulance driven by a person that soporific.
And yes, I did have to look up that two-bit word in the dictionary.

Originally posted by 86fierofun: Lol. That was pretty funny. That cut off sounds good. So far, there have been 8 people who voted and there is logo that is in the lead with 4 votes.
Now that the important, month-long election is over (our "Fox Valley Fieros" club logo election, not the national one) , I've two questions regarding it:
Which Fox Valley Fieros club logo won?
When will be getting our Fox Valley Fieros club logo stickers?
OK the details are set on the trip we will all meet at waverly beach Menasha at 11 am for a quick brunch together and then we will head out twards sherwood /highcliff if the group rate works out the alternative first stop will be calumet co park then we will take off from their making our way around the lake stoping by bigjakes car and onto menominie park in oshkosh then following up the lake road so on so forth till we make it back to waverly anybody have suggestions for stops on the way shoot! but main details so far is were we are starting from! far as the club sticker I think the new one ended up winning the comp and far as getting them made I had a printer but they backed out so I need to find another, ive been waiting till we knew for shure how many id need to make and what it is but ill get on it now that we seem to be settled on it.
I will be following chase with Most likely my jeep and i have a Camera that takes 10mpx pics and 720hd video.
If everyone thinks its a good idea i can at times scoot ahead a few miles and pull off to get Candid driveby videos and photos of everyones cars much like the kind my friend and I got during this last racing season with the Dirt devil.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOps I put wrong date on the thread for the drive my bad dang calendar i have dosent say month at top i forgot to flip page! ugh.......
I will do that...watching vid right now. the Inet is slow so it takes forever to buffer, but worth every second. I see y'all were modifying my engine with a hammer...thank you...lol. Hope the meet with my friends went well and that y'all were able to answer any of their questions.
Man that was a great day! I had a blast meeting you all again! I'm looking forward to getting my fiero back on the road so that we can have a notchie presence
Originally posted by Bigjake34: I see y'all were modifying my engine with a hammer...thank you...lol.
Yes, and the other good news is that thanks to hitting the valve covers and the intake manifold repeatedly with that hammer, we also established that they're not cast iron, which is extremely heavy, but thankfully, they're much lighter stamped steel and aluminum, respectively. The reason we know that is because stamped steel valve covers and aluminum intake manifolds get all messed up from banging on them repeatedly with a heavy ball-peen hammer, whereas cast iron doesn't.
Although large and numerous, all the dents that are now in the valve covers from that hammer should buff right out (because we made sure to use the round end of the ball-peen hammer), so after later rechroming the valve covers, they should look almost as good as new.
Probably no one expected the hammer to shatter various sections of the intake manifold as badly as it did , but after pounding on each section to make sure none was cast iron, we found all the resultant pieces, so by later taping them back together with some Scotch tape and covering that with several very thick coats of matte silver paint, the aluminum intake manifold also should look almost as good as new.
All kidding aside, one of your friends had several questions about a quarter panel side scoop on my car. The scoop is one of the excellent-quality fiberglass "full panel side scoops" from The Fiero Warehouse ( http://www.oocities.com/fie...fiberglassparts.html ), which was later modified to make it fully functional (and slightly modified to improve its aesthetics as well). One of your friends seemed to be considering a variant of that for potential use with your car, so I hope I answered his questions satisfactorily.
In any case, your Fiero seems likely to be a F-U-N ride!
LOL, naw I think I'll just BONDO the valve cover dents and paint them with tan primer. I may up grade the Scotch Tape for black electrical tape, as it is easier to see. As for the scoop, I looked at the link those are nice, but did he say he was Fabbing the scoop or that they were going to have me order them? I liked his idea for the ram air. And Steve(aka.my friend)said the exhaust was rediculously cool. I tend to believe him as he is truly a "car Guy". Thing I'm having trouble with is, Why the axels I ordered weren't right. I ordered them right from the th440 swap articles 1988 Pontiac 6000. Unless i ordered 2 of the same...I wouldnt put it past me to do that...lol

Hey one thing I noticed with your exhaust is on the right side it apears to sit on the cradle mount were the rear torsion bars tie into a bit they may want to cut the top of the mount down just a hair so it dosent rub under throttle also the wheel well above the water pump could use a wee bit more trimming so the wires for it dont get pinched and or rub thru it under throttle other than that it looks like a really good clean install i was really impressed with the mounts he made for the exhaust im curious to see how u guys figure out solution for the spedo he was saying somthin about gps or a axle mounted spedo pickup? verry intresting!
