Got the new fuel pump relay installed today. Back to starting up right away every time. Also the a/c still blows nice and cold. I rained a ton last night and I no longer have a puddle in the car from the sunroof. I guess I installed the tracks correctly.
Replaced the battery tray. I plan on completely redoing all the rusted metal in the back of the car in the future so I was not too concerned how my welds looked. I want to be able to drive the car for a while so this had to be done.
I replaced the head light motors today. Now the headlights work. I also repaired the trunk release button and got the trunk popper working. The ac still blows nice and cold too. I'm still waiting on tires.
I took the car for it's first real drive the other day. Went about 10 miles through town. Drives nice and smooth and handles good. I need to fix an exhaust leak but other than that I'm happy. It's now resting inside where it's going to be stored from now on.
It's been almost a year that I've had the car. I have not done anything to it lately since it's in storage. Next year I plan on putting insurance on it and driving it some. I did buy it a anniversary gift. I found a complete Holley kit for it. Has the intake manifold, throttle body, valve cover, air filter cover and the side scoop. I thought it would be neat to have these somewhat rare parts on a somewhat rare car. I've got to clean them up and install them.
So what should I expect fuel mileage wise with this car being an iron duke and auto trans? I think I'm going to clean up the engine bay and install the Holley parts soon and maybe drive the car a bit this year before winter. I broke the 88 the other day so I can transfer the insurance to the Indy for the rest of the year.
The Holley parts are really neat! Been awhile since I have seen that set. I get about 31 to 34 in my 4 speed Indy. That mileage is being gentle on the highway. I had to replace my dot matrix stripe as well. A pressure washer saw to that!
I've ordered a bunch of parts for the car: new intake manifold gasket new exhaust manifold gasket new throttle body gasket new battery cables new engine and transmission mounts new receiver/dryer for a/c new seals for a/c Now in the spring I can put the holley parts on, replace the engine mounts and give the a/c system a tune up.
What shocks/struts are the best? The shocks/struts are worn out on the Indy and need to be replaced. I can get a set of KYB Shocks and struts from RockAuto for about $170 shipped.
Christmas for the Indy! New mounts, battery cables, gaskets, a/c parts. I'll be busy in the spring.
Also took a few good pictures of the Holley parts I have for the car too. Taking them to work and cleaning them in the parts washer so hopefully they will look like new.
I started the Indy up and let it run a bit today. It started right up which was a bit of a shock to me. It's been well over a month since the last time I saw it.
Figures, I put insurance on the car and was going to get license plates for it Monday since we have had almost no snow this winter. Now there's a winter storm warning. I'll still get the plates for it I'll just wait to drive it.

I'm also going to do some modifications/repairs to the wiring. The main power wires that go through the C500 connector have poor contacts so I'm going to loop them around the C500. I also want to relocate the fusible links. Found the info in this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/118300.html
Nice work man, do you have a picture of your redone battery tray without the battery in it? I have the same issue and the tray was so badly corroded like yours was that I also just cut the whole damn thing out. I am on the fence right now about what to do either make something nice for the original location or move it to the front like many others here do. Car is coming along nicely man.... good work. Peace
Pete

I got my arm rest/cup holder from TXGOOD for the Indy. It's a work of art. Ill post a picture on Monday. I can post a picture of the battery tray without the battery. It's not very pretty because I plan on redoing the metal work because it's rusty.
Found a head, valve cover and edelbrock intake for a 2 barrel carb. Block is going to the machine shop. I need to figure out what carb to use and a ignition system. Also considering swapping the car to a manual transmission. I'm not sure a auto would be much fun but we will see. Any advice on what I should do as far as building the engine would be appreciated.
Damn, no advice on building a Super Duty? I have a iron super duty head with 1.7 roller rockers, valves and springs on the way. It comes with a Edelbrock intake for a 2 barrel carb. I'm also waiting on a price for a Weber carb setup. Which would be the best way to go? If I go for the 2 barrel carb what would be a good carb to use?
Keep It Simple! I've seen a few SD4 builds that end up in limbo because the builder tries to accomplish too much at once, like turbocharging, using aftermarket fuel injection, and nitrous all in the same setup at the same time.
fierosound used a distributor with the coil on top, but there's also an external coil one. There are also super-expensive SD4 specific distributors.
The 390cfm Holley 4-bbl with a 4-bbl intake would be the best way to go to simplify things, but IIRC fierosound had difficulty with the carb interfering with the trunk wall, although that may have been caused by using the stock transmission mounts with the 4T60? I actually have a 4-bbl intake, and I honestly don't think it will fit without some modifications to the trunk wall. If you stick with the 2-bbl setup, the Holley 500cfm.
I found some other SD parts that should be here later this week. I'll have the block in a couple weeks because it's getting machine work done. I'm getting excited.
