Plugging along. Making good progress. I should be able to pick up my heads today. Turns out one of the guides was a bit egg shaped. Its also the same valve where the new LS6 spring broke. I also had the guides machined for the lower height seals. All is well....
HOWEVER!! You knew this was coming.
WTF moment. My F23 has the shifter rod clocked 45 degress. Somehow ol' smoke and mirrors clocked it. Luckily I noticed this as I was transferring everything over to my replacement F23 (damaged due to improper FW thickness). So either I need to find the correct shifter brackets for an f23 swap or figure out how to rotate this and use what I have. Personally, I would rather go the correct route.
That is good news! Did you spin the crankshaft by hand to make sure the pressure place clears the transmission?
Damn sure did. I really didn't want to go down this road again. I really appreciate your help with the measurement process. Going together really well. Longest part is finding all the bolts and nuts. Its been apart for a while now. :/

Will not crank. Stater was seized. Replaced with new unit. Cranks better than ever. FIXED
Crank, no start. No 12v signal at coil packs. Replaced CPS. FIXED
Crank, no start. Spark plugs soaked. Spoke with DH and he told me how to rescale the tune for 60# injectors w/ pictures! lol AWESOME.
Just need to burp the coolant, nut & bolt check and clean her up. I plan on driving it around for 2 weeks then trailer it to MASE to get it dyno tuned. Vids to come!
There is currently no maf sensor connected. So technically it needs a maf and not a "tune"
It was tuned well when it was parked and the changes the new injectors made are very simple to do in one flash. Dyno tuning would be a waste of money without a doubt.

Damn! Thank goodness you have another racing Pontiac you don't have to tear down on a monthly basis. Sorry to hear about more issues with what should be a really nice car when done.

I picked up a 32k mile 2005 Monte SS engine. Plans are to swap in my ST3 cam, LS7 lifters, MLS HG, ported heads, valve train, Manley SS vavles, ARP HS & double roller. Hopefully I will be driving it this month. Not touching the bottom end.

I wouldn't reuse the lifters since they probably have contaminated oil in them. Clean the heads really really good and don't forget to flush out your turbo and feed/drain lines, oil pan, etc.
I just need to verify my pushrod length once I reassemble the engine and fingers crossed, all should be good to go. Granted, I need to learn how to do it properly.

Rea through every page. Took 2 days. Amazing the trials and tribulations this project has gone through. I hope this new engine has a happier conclusion and things work out as they should. All I can say is way to stick to it and great job overall. Many kudos
Thats a lot of reading. I try to look back to reference things but it gets me angry when I read some of the garbage in this thread. It really needs cleaned or I need to start a new one.
Meh! Leaking HTOB. So I have to build an engine brace to support the engine. No way I am pulling it all back apart.
I put the car on 4 jack stands. Lower the cradle, about 6" on the pass side and rest the cradle on blocks. Remove trans mounts. Put jack under engine. Tip cradle down on drivers side and the trans will pop right off.
