Start pulling body panels and checking on the frame. The gaps around the door look good on the tow truck, maybe it'll be minor frame portions to replace.

first i would like to say sorry about your car..... it really sucks to see that happen. next i would like to tell you had you stayed at a holiday inn the night before this might not have happened. also i would like to share with you a funny edit of your crash to lighten the mood. you car wasnt to happy it seems either

Buy the car back from the insurance company if they total it, then get a less attractive fiero notchback and swap the gt onto it. Perhaps you'll have enough left to paint it.
you can probably fix it.... The insurance company is going to total it out... no doubts there.
What you could do to try to save it and let a shop fix it is supply as many parts as you can, such as bumpers, trim, etc... because the shop will typically charge crazy money for parts like that.
That's totally a fixer. It looks bad, but it also looks like the impact honeycomb did its job as did the impact bar. I suspect once the fascia, fenders and hood are removed it'll not be too terrible at all. Let's just hope the approved body shop aren't chimpanzees and are just as optimistic.

If you want another fiero, I'd consider selling mine. But I was scheduled to ship it on Wed. I'm in Frankfurt for the rest of the weekend if you're interested.

You haven't had the pleasure of dealing with insurance out side the US. You don't do anything without THEIR permission. US insurance is a joke compared to the strong-arm tactics overseas. Mod/alter your car w/o getting the OK from the insurance and they'll drop you, report you, and then make it VERY difficult for you to get insurance elsewhere. Its NUTS. Luckily, we have USAA and didn't have to deal with that nonsense.
Look at the good side; Fiero and tree= good day as the owner walked away. The outcome might be far different if you were driving a VW, Smart or Mini-Cooper.

Depends on your company and the fine print in your policy, and maybe whether you can pull some social engineering to get your agent's sympathy. Auto insurance in some places is getting as bad as HMO's. Not sure about Germany.
Geez, I dunno about that. I kind of doubt the "disposable" stuff would absorb all the impact from a collision at that speed.
I hope you're right though as trying to repair/replace a Fiero over in Europe must be awfully difficult.

Oh it won't have absorbed ALL of it, but enough that it won't be severe structural damage. Hell I'm restoring an '86 that has more damage than that, it's just what you do when you're not somewhere easy for spares

I'm so happy to know even though a fiero gets pretty much recked people like you are out there saying "it'll get fixed" instead of just throwing it out for scrap or parting it out.
Front part of the tub looks to be bent in which means the side rails are pulled in. You could cut out, straighten the sides and replace or build a new front end but would the overall car be straight even after all that work. Fixable? Probably, if you are dedicated enough. Cost effective? Not really! And if you ever sell it, could you do so with a clear conscience given that even if you reveal the accident to the buyer, who's to say they don't simply sell it on without doing so to the next buyer. Personally I'd say be thankful you walked away from it, part the car out and use the $ (or Deutschmarks) towards another.

I guess it would also depend on the Value of the Fiero in your part of the world. Here in Canada that would be totaled however if these cars are worth let's say 20k in your neck of the woods maybe your insurance will see things differently.
I'm glad you pulled through, hopefully that Fiero will be resurrected, if not good luck searching for a replacement. I'm sure it must be pretty rare in your area!
Second pic from the top... Isn't the rear of the hood suppose to lock in place during a crash and buckle in the middle? With a bit more speed this looks like a potential decapitation in progress.

Don't destroy a notch back. Heck those are going to be rarer than the fast back in a couple of years.I agree with those who say get a different front. Beyond that I agree with those that say look into different front end options. There must be something you've looked at and wanted but held off.
