Nice! My best junkyard score was non-Fiero related. I found an early Fiat 850 Spider in a junkyard about 7 years ago and it had an Abarth racing oil pan (had provisions for dry sump), which evidently is very rare. I paid $20 for it and sold it to some racer in Australia for almost $700!
Anyway.....nice score on the headers (I think they're Sprint manifolds?). What did you pay for them?
I still have to make my first junkyard trip, but I already know this thread will be amazing so I just subscribed to it

hell yeah post away. doesnt have to be from a fiero just anything thats cool you got out of a junkyard. well i would have only paid 20 bucks for them! but i couldnt get them off of the crossover pipe so i had to pay for that the o2 sensor and the egr valve so it came up to total 45 lol. but i almost didnt get them. after struggling for about an hour and half the guy up front told me i had to go and come back tomorrow. and i was like NOOO! so i literally was standing in the engine bay with on foot on the engine and the other on the strut tower pulling as hard as i could and i finally got them! i ended up bending the crossover pipe that how hard i was pulling on them
I found a MY8 that i got dirt cheap... another forum member found a haggered IMSA in a yard as well.

A perfect set of seats with Mr. Mikes covers - Rodney Dickman idler, a 120mph speedometer and the gen 2 full headlight harness and motors all from 1 vehicle! Only needed the harness but sometimes you can't pass up a bargain.
I lost the photos I took of it, but around four years ago I found a very badly "home-brew'ed" roadster Fiero in a local pick-n-pull. The owner had simply taken a saw-zaw to the roof and B pillars and just cut away without adding any bracing. By the time I got to it the car was bowing heavily and essentially undriveable. I was going to pull some interior parts but it had sat in the elements (imagine that, without a top).
Can this be back engineered? I was thinking that if it can, the Fiero community would have a great resource for future projects. Perhaps Rodney can assist in building new ones. Cordially, kevin
This is already a great thread...can wait to see what else! My most recent find is Solstice air vents...got 6 for $15.00 They were in perfect condition...I needed them for my new G1 dash...saved me $210.00...since they were $225.00 from anywhere new!

My latest find is a 88k 3800SC motor & trans in a 99 Regal hit hard in the rear at U-Pull-It, $219 for the complete motor & $80 for the trans!
My best find was a 65-67 Nova 12 bolt posi rearend, $125 at UPI, sold for $1,200!
Found many many rare or wanted parts to other cars that I have paid $20-30 for and got $200-300+ on ebay for... I pass up a lot of stuff, I seen a jasper 4t65e-hd transmission with not even a spec of dirt on it that had a date sticker only 4 months old, car was crashed and that would have only been $100.
Within the last year or 2 that I can remember:
-Low mile 88 headlight system complete with harness, motors and module: $60 or $70 -About 6 sets of fiero seat covers so far - $30 each -Special edition trim for another car - $20 each, sold over $200 a piece on ebay -Short shifter - $5 -Lots of brackets, sensors, engine parts, etc that were mint condition that would otherwise have been expensive. -Lots of stuff I passed up because I didn't have all my tools or didn't feel like pulling.
-80K 3800sc engine (picture below) - $2xx -GenV supercharger from 07 GP, $100 with intake, getting it cheap allowed me to spend the rest on polishing supplies:

No, all they do is collect the money at the U-Pull-It's. They have a rolling chain hoist to lift them out, you have to do everything else. I'll only get motors/trans out of wrecked cars, better chance getting a good one, they were most likely running when hit. Haven't had a bad one yet. One trick I found for finding mileage on electric dash cars - look for an oil change sticker on the windshield.

Our local pullapart yards have independent mechanics that hang around the office. They will pull heavy stuff for a fee. I asked one about pulling a 3.4 engine and he wanted $150. Windshield pulled was $20. Ask the people at the front desk.

I took my very first trip to the junkyard today! My father and I were looking for a power mirror switch, and we ended up finding one out of a Chevy Lumina and we took that and we tried taking the mirrors too, but it was just about the biggest ripoff ever. $35 for each mirror, I would've charged $20 for everything. Well, at least I got my switch for $5 which is the important part. In the morning we're supposed to go to another junkyard.
And I saw two junked Fieros today, a yellow GT and a silver notchback. It was a sad sight.

Here's my best 'score' at a salvage yard. Everything came out of an 88 Formula that had the read end completely torn off of it.
Complete front suspension with brakes and steering shaft Gas tank and expansion tank (took the lines also but they're kind of boogered up) Headlight assemblies, harness and module Coolant tubes
My best find was what is now my wife's car. An 88 GT with 34,000 miles on it, power lumbar, all options except sunroof or t-top (I installed a factory sunroof in it.) It had some minor damage but the Yard delivered it and let me take whatever I wanted off an 87 GT to fix it up. Cost was $500. It's now the nicest fiero we own. No rust I could find anywhere, and I had it stripped to the space frame at one point.

There was one fiero in the junkyard that I would loved to have bought for the price that the junk yard paid the owner ($300) .... It was an 86GT with like 60k miles, there was NO rust anywhere, even the battery tray and lower radiator support wasn't rusted, looked like it was just a blown engine.... it was just too bad it was already stripped and under body damaged by front loader forks.

88 database guy --- that's my big a$$ in the photo as I was with Pat at the yard that day ---- I don't have the vin but I think Pat does --- can't recall the tranny but I got the seats! They are Mr. Mike's leather covered / no speakers. Someone had just put a lot of work and money in this vehicle and probably did not have it insure with collision protection. It appeared to be very rebuildable. Only the right front fender and drivers door was hurt and the frame appeared to be straight. I also got the headlight harness and motors. It had a Jasper remanufactured engine Ocelot exhaust / Rodney's pulley / a new distributor and an aftermarket air cleaner. We also got some additional interior trim parts and gen 1 headlight motors from a 84 and a 86 that were also on the lot.
Wow, you guys really scored! I was hoping the decklid still had the vin sticker on it and that it would be easy to get the vin that way. A silver 88GT is mighty rare and getting rarer it seems, I'd like to make sure this one's demise is documented in some way. Thanks for any other info you guys can dig up!
