77 Pontiac Astre Formula This the Pontiac version of the Chevy Vega....styled out like a wannabe Trans Am. Kinda cool (but Vega's had a rep as total POS). [This message has been edited by 92wastheyear (edited 07-25-2013).]

My very first demo was a 1977 "Ashtray" as we called them. BUT mine had the 2.5 engine, maroon good looking cast wheels. I have a picture of it some place. I liked the car. [This message has been edited by solotwo (edited 07-25-2013).]

Was that an early version of the Iron Duke ....or a different 2.5?

I had an Astre that had a promo package called L'il Wide Track. It came with a front and rear spoiler, red yellow and black stripes and wheels that look sort of like wire wheels. Also had nice raised white letter tires, and a four speed. I got it new and just had it painted when a drunk driver rear ended it at just over 100.000 miles It was a fun to toss around little car. The only major problem was the trans went around 60,000.

Same 'ol familiar Iron Duke. Pontiac used the Iron Duke name in their advertising, supposedly to distinguish it from the aluminum Vega engine.

Could be a fun car. There was also a Sunbird (Monza clone) Formula available. Google will find pics.

Here's one. This one has the Buick V6 (predecessor to the 3800).
