Check it out, 88 T-Top Fiero GT with 23,975 miles just sold on eBay for $15,500! Are Fiero's finally garnering the respect and value that many other 25 year old classic car's uphold? If your selling your Fiero don't underprice it compared to other similar classic vehicles. Fiero's are becoming more rare with each passing year and deserve the respect of a unique and timeless design vehicle.
Right color, right options......this one has a lot going for it. I did cringe a little at the picture of the steering wheel. It looks like it used to have one of those leather wrap things on it for a long time....you can see the indentations on the tan leather. Over time they might fade away though......that is the only "fault" I have with the car. If I were to ever get another T-Top Fiero it would be one like this......low mileage in like-new condition.
Nice, but I can't get too excited about the price...after 25 years it's selling at an inflation adjusted price about half what it originally sold for. When Fieros can be dragged out a barn in any condition and be worth 6 figures then I'll be impressed.
Can anyone please tell me why this beautiful automobile didn't stay in production?!?!?!? It's beautiful today and would have been more so back in 1988!!!
Great pictures, lots of info, and slick presentation also went a long way in this cars sale. The guy definitely took the time to present the car the way it should have been.

Beautiful car, but I agree. Obviously not an investment or money maker. Even a mediocre mutual fund would have doubled or tripled in value after 25 years. A real collectible would be worth many times the original price (Shelby Cobra, Super Bee, Buick GNX, 455 SD Trans Am, etc). I think that there are lots of 88 Fiero GTs tucked away by people who think the cars are made of gold and will go up in value, but this is unlikely to happen. The cars had a bad reputation (unfairly), and had performance that did not match its' looks- even for 1988. The MR2 or 300 ZX were far more refined by 1988 than the Fiero. In the Toronto area alone, there are at least 8 clean 1988 Fiero GTs for sale and they are not selling.
Are they a fun hobby? For sure. An investment?? No way.
I would think that the winning bidder was a collector. At that price I find it hard to believe the seller lost money, so it wasn't an investment. Though I am fairly young to this forum, my wife had 2 fieros back in the 80's. She cant recall the year or style of either. It was before I met her. But one was totaled about 2 weeks after she drove it off the lot. Rear ended at a stoplight. The other was a manual and she kept burning up clutches driving in heavy traffic to work So whats my point......Good question. The original sticker price on this car back in 88 is a lot. To sell such a car in this condition for less then that shows me that perhaps it was someone passionate about these cars and obviously has money and and too many toys or someone who found this gem and sold it to hopefully someone who would appreciate it. I don't buy high dollar stuff on flea bay but this ad is the most thorough and meticulous I have seen personally. I just buy and sell on craigslist. Their was a lot of effort just put in to making this ad. Don't know the accuracy of the contents as I am no fiero expert by any means, but this is a car I would have bought sight unseen over the internet. Unfortunately im getting a new roof and gutters on the house. Almost as much fun as driving a mint 88 t-top fiero!!! I envy the new owner and hope its not one of my neighbors because they already have their garaged muscle cars.
Here's a bit of nostalgia about the Fiero on Motor Week television. The latter part of the presentation compares the 88 Fiero to the 88 Toyota MR2 and at the end Motor Week chose the Fiero over the MR2! It's also interesting to note the highest priced Fiero could be purchased for less than the lowest available priced MR2 in 1988. Even though Toyota MR2's were more expensive than Fiero's, they're not holding their value any better than the Fiero when checking current prices on eBay.
Doug007, you're right about transactions. Just bought a car for opening bid because high bidder backed out. Glad to see prices come up, but still not in collectible range. Reminds me of discussion on Fieros vs Corvettes. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/091900.html

Hah! They removed the pic of the radio. 88s never came from the factory with the full pushbutton radio, as was pictured. A small detail, but it's there (or at least was) nonetheless.

I saw that too, but didn't say anything......at least it was a factory radio.
My experience selling cars on ebay........rarely does the transaction actually happen.
The "excitement" of last minute bidding causes remorse from the bidder. Money never changes hand, and the car is relisted.
Just my experience folks.
I must be a sucker then... I bought 4 cars on eBay and I ended up with all for of them. I started to say money changed hands, but one of them I won for $1 and when I showed up seller didn't want the dollar!
I just looked at the eBay ad again and the picture of the pushbutton radio is there. The really interesting thing is the SPIL sticker......it shows UX1, which is the 5-band EQ radio, but it does not show UQ6, which is the Performance Sound option. This car has had the subwoofer system installed, but it wasn't originally ordered with it (not that it's a big deal, but it's not "original" to the car).
I was the second high bidder and was planning to drive it periodically like I do my other 88 gt. It would have been nice to have the t-tops, which is the only difference in my current one. While it went very high for a Fiero, I rarely see those options together, leather, ttop, 5-speed, original paint, low miles.
