I have a spare hood, and was looking around to see if I can do a hood vent. After awhile of looking I found a lot but non with any measurements of where to cut, and then I found this
Looks really nice! I will look at your thread, but I was wondering, is the width just about the size of the radiator or smaller? For some reason the width looks a bit small to me

The measurements on your paper are the same as on the Widow's Extractor .... the opening is smaller than the width of the radiator but the same size or close as the diameter of the fan output hole .... regards
Thanks for the info. But I think I want mine with a little bit more width to it so looks like I will just have to measure for myself on trying to get the look I want. I don't want that big of an opening tho, probly like around 2"

Full weight of the decklid and hinge on that little 2 inch area each side ... you are going to cut into the lateral supports of the lid....I personally think its gonna snap the hood in two after a while of opening and closing..... regards Danyel
I've done two similar to what you want to do. I'm not sure size really matters that much. Plenty of warm air exits the one on my V8 car even when the fan is not running. They are as close to a Warber hood as I can make them without the actual Warber measurements. This one is 17 3/4 wide by 1 1/2 deep (clear area) and is 10 1/4 " from the front of the hood. No modification required to the rad. area or overflow tank.
The second one is 18 1/2 wide ( still clears all the inner hood structural areas) 2 1/2 deep and 9 1/4" from the front of the hood. It required modification to the fan support and barely clears the overflow tank.
Nice scoop but it needs the raised lip in the front and down the sides. It is lifeless just flat and needs some 3D from to it in making it stand out and appear less home made.
Lets put it this way it looks more factory and less backyard with the raised lip.
