Would anyone know or have records as to how many factory authorized 1988 T-Top Fiero's remain in existence of the total 1252 produced? According to the Enthusiasts Guide to the Pontiac Fiero, there were: 339 Coupe's 299 Formula's 614 GT's
If you own an 88 T-Top Fiero or know of any still in existence, please respond to this Post with the color, style, production number, and present location if available. Thank you in advance to all who respond! This will be interesting information for all Forum members and T-Top owner's in particular. EDIT: Just searching for factory authorized T-Tops to determine how many of the initial 1252 T-Top Fiero's have survived after 25 years. Sorry, salvaged T-Top's installed on other 88 Fiero's (or Mera's) would not count as the recorded VIN's wouldn't correlate.
I have a black automatic GT number 77 of 614 VIN# 210413 with 33,067 miles located in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada (originally purchased in Maryland)

Does it count if you buy and install an 88 t-top on an 88 GT? If so, one of my Meras (8004) could make the list. It is currently Corsa Rosa red and resides in Columbia, SC.

johnyrottin, you can only check the T-Top Registry to find out if a particular Fiero had a factory authorized T-Top. It does not provide a list of all known T-Tops (in existence?).

There is someone who runs a T-Top registry. He might be able to pass you a load of info.
I've got a Black 88 GT T-Top, gray interior, 5-Speed car with, cruise, AC, PW, PM, rear defroster and lumbar support. It was originally purchased at Knopf Pontiac outside of Allentown PA in August 1988, and is #603 of 614 GT's with the CJB RPO. Just hit a little over 42k miles on it a few weeks ago.
My wife's car was originally and 88 coupe with a 2.5 and a 3 speed automatic along with the T-Tops. It now has a 2.8 along with a 4T60 tranny and still has the T-Tops. Maybe I can get the VIN number from her or the car and post it too.
Red 88 GT, CJB, 5 speed grey interior. Had it for about 5 years, pretty beat up when I got it, but drove well. Currently apart in the garage, getting 3.4 TDC/F40, and a Fino/Finale kit.
They built 1252 and today there may be 1600 88 T tops.
Now I am joking but I would imagine most are still on the road and many that are not the tops have found their way to other cars.
T tops are not as rare as you may think as the Cars and Concepts Dealer installs were in great numbers from 84-91. Keep in mind they kept installing them even after the car was gone.
There should be a registry for all the tops and you can split off the CJB in a separate group. They were all made by the same company with only one part different and even many of the dealer installed option kits were done at the same plant as the CJB cars. I know many like to play the CJB cars are so different but they have no issue using the kit parts when they need replacements with no issue.
Here is my thinking. The good side affect to this is if you could document how many T Top cars CJB and Dealer Optioned are still on the road it may catch someone's attention to make gaskets and some other replacement parts we could use. If people look at just see the 1200+ that were CJB they will never make parts. There is strength in numbers.
Keep in mind I was told there were over 8,000 T tops made by the gentleman that was in charge of the program and later bought out the T tops division from Cars and Concepts. He said most went to the Fiero and Fiero option but many went to Kit Cars some were broken up for parts. Yes many went to warranty for their parts and were never sold.

Hey Kelvin, How the heck are you? Haven't seen you post in a while. Or maybe I've been away myself?
JScott! All is well, I've been more of a lurker these past few years - from time to time I pop in to see what's going on.... I still have your interior to transplant into my car someday. Amazing that we've been on this forum since 2001! All the best, Kelvin

This thread got me thinking about creating a special T-Top class for Daytona this year. I wonder if we could draw in enough to make it worth while. Hmmmm.
I own a rare yellow CJB formula...I understand that there were only @37 made. Only the the silver formula is more rare with only 2 ever built...or that is what I've been able to gather over the years.
I've got one, an 88 Formula, left it stock cause I thought it might be worth more that way but, I don't believe leaving the stock 2.8 manual has much to do with the value of a T Top Formula. Haven't driven it on the highway in several years, I keep a battery tender on it and start it a couple of times a month, drive it around the neighborhood but not on the highway or into town since it's no longer licensed/registered. Did have it painted a few years back and put leather seats in it. Thought the wife was going to drive it but, she only did that a few times before the previous registration ran out so now, it mostly just sits there. No leaks but, it really is going to waste. Oh well, I won't give it away but, it could be available if someone wants it.

I'm trying to find out how many Red 1988 GT Fiero 5 speed factory installed T-Tops are registered in Alaska? Specifically in Anchorage? I have one and I could not believe it when I stumbled across another one in the same town. Does the registry know anything about this other car?
Nov 6 2018. The Registry tells me I have the # 328 T-Top installed by Cars and Concepts on My 1988 Black, 5 speed Fiero GT, 259,000 Mi. Located in Lake Winola, Pa. 18625 I am the 3ed owner. VIN # 1G2P1198JP214907 was shipped from Cars and Concepts 3-18-1988 to Wm J. Scerbo Pontiac, Parsippany, NJ
So what is the consensus? Are factory T-tops rare enough to leave them stock or can they be cut up and modded like any other Fiero without incurring the wrath of collectors?

Unless it is super low mileage I say hack away and mod to your hearts content.
I currently own 3 T-top Fieros....2 CJB Formulas and a converted GT. I recognize at least one car in this thread that I used to own. All in all I've probably owned 18 or so CJB Fieros over the years....all GT's or Formulas. For some reason a T-top coupe has eluded me.

The 88 Database has records of 17 CJB cars which were either found in junkyards or reported as being parted out. The actual number of cars lost is of course much higher, but there are no doubt a large number of survivors.
88 T-Top Formula here. C&C Red Beechwood interior, now with custom Mr.Mike's seats, custom glove box, after market pw & pdl, MOMO wheel, just got auto dim interior mirror with temp and compass (not yet installed) Building 1/4 panel scoops and vented hood, wing being replaced with MR2 wing or Camaro Hi Rise spoiler.
I have one here in Cali. It’s the #8 in the production run
It’s an ‘88 GT , purchased at Shaver Pontiac in Southern California, Getrag, luggage rack (since been removed and a wing installed by PO), power everything, Beechwood interior, it’s in great shape and is my daily driver. Painted black with white racing striped and is super low.
