UPDATE 6/4/2014 ..... AFTER DINNER EVENT ON 6/12/14 AT LOCAL FIERO ENTHUSIAST FRED BARTEMEYRE JR FOR BONFIRE
2014 Hot Rod Power Tour is coming close to the Northern IL Area this year!! This year NORTHER ILLINOIS FIERO ENTHUSIAST (NIFE) has set up a 3 days of events to anyone who is interested in attending some of the Hot Rod Power Tour.
Hot Rod Power Tour is 7 car shows in 7 cities across the USA, starting this year on Saturday June, 7nd, in Concord, NC and ending June 14 in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Each day driving from location to location where there is a car show between 12-6/7pm, it then repeats again the next day. Participants can stay at the shows as long as they like and get there when they want. There are vendor giveaways and games played throughout the day, and special events are available too (open drags, hot laps around race tracks, autocross, etc.). The driving route tries to go through small towns, avoiding the interstate. It is a site driving with cool cars in front of and behind you with people on the street watching as you go by. If you attend all stops you are a“Long Hauler”
There have been many Fiero’s on Power Tours. Participants respect the car and see it’s as an icon of “Pontiac Excitement”. Power Tour doesn’t only consist of only 60/70’s muscle cars, custom rides, or street rods. There are new, exotic, and daily driven cars that participate too. There is no Judging so BRING WHAT YOU GOT!
Power Tour is one of the largest automotive tours. The Power Tour is about having an old fashion good time. People attend from all over the country/world and all ages (0-100+). There are always stories about strangers helping with breakdowns, travel issues, and late night repairs done in parking lots, for a handshake.
The stops on the tour this year are: 6/7 - Concord, NC, 6/8 - Knoxville, TN, 6/9 - Charleston, WV, 6/10 - Norwalk, OH, 6/11 - Crown Point, IN, 6/12- Bettendorf, IA, 6/13 - Wisconsin Dells, WI, 6/14- Wisconsin Dells, WI - (Only “LONGHAULERS”)

So who is planning on going? If you can, let us know on here or on our Fieros on the Tour Facebook Event page what stops you will be joining us on. We are still finalizing plans as we don't have the final route yet. We will likely have a dinner in Davenport after Thursdays Bettendorf show winds down at the same restaurant that Heartland Fieros has used for their pre-show dinner the past few years.
Rumor is that a few Fieros could be featured at the Bettendorf, IA stop, but I really should not say anything about that.

Rides: 85 Fiero Gt, Green "Grasshopper", 86 Fiero GT, Blue, V8 " Snapperhead" 2013 Fierorama Best of Show Non-Stock, 87 GT Met Orange, 88 Formula White stock soon to be 4.9 met Blue like Snapperhead--- 10 Camaro, 99 K2500 Suburban, 04 Trailblazer
I assume when they say "One day registration available on site only." That means at a show or departure point? We were thinking of rolling into the Bettendorf show, or possibly just spectating that one, but being officially part of it from Iowa to the dells and the show there. Sounds like its $30 for a car with two people in it?

At each location there will be a car show from noon to 7pm, you can register at each show for $30 for that show only. So if you only wanted to spectate at the Iowa show, but be in the Dells show, you would register at the Dells for $30, but you would not be "officially part of it" until you got registered in the Dells. I am sure Scott will correct me if I am wrong.
If anyone is doing more then 2 shows, it makes sense to pre-register as you can do unlimited stops for $80.
it is official from work today i am not going to get to long haul this year again ... but plan on trying to make Charleston to the Dells. It is the end of the period at work and have to close it out early Monday morning (ie 4am), but plan on having the car packed and heading to from Chicago to Charleston from there.

Sorry to hear that, glad I'll get to cruise with ya twards the Dells though.
I'm really interested in joining in on the last three days. I've never done anything like this so I don't know what to expect. And, I do t know anybody yet since I just got on the Fiero scene last year.

Good way to get to know us Basically it seems like a big rolling car show with car shows in between.
Man I wish my car was back together and had all the bugs worked out. I work in Bloomington too. Id love to meet up with a few Fiero nuts! Beings how I haven't driven it any more than around the block at this point not so sure I should trust her yet for a long haul

Any car is welcome on the Tour (except rental cars) join us for a stop a two and hang out.
DOTRENREW would love to have you come out and join us. This is not just a Fiero event this is all sort of Hot Rod's from around the country. If you schedule allows you are actually closer to the Norwalk, OH stop the day before the Crown Point Stop to join in. I will be in Norwalk , OH for sure. This is my 6th year doing power tour, it is more about the experience and being with car people and having a good time, than about the cars.
First thing I would do is book Hotels either on your own or through Familyevents.com. Be Careful some Family Events hotels will try to book you 2 nights automatically, and always make sure there is a cancellation policy. Then if you are doing more than one stop, Preregsiter for the event on FamilyEvents.com also. It is $35 a day or $85 for how ever many days you want, just let them know what city you are picking up the registration in.
There might be a chance that we will have a mid IL stop to allow others that can't make it to Matteson, IL to join in. One option i am considering that would work good would be where the route crosses I39, about the half way marker for the day. However the route wont be posted til about 2 weeks before the tour. So this will be a last minute added stop, and timing of this stop might be difficult. This is due to the tour route moves slower due to the heavy traffic of Hot Rods on the route.
It is a bring what you got event... they do frown upon rentals (unless you are the couple from South Africa that comes every year and rents a new muscle car) so if you Fiero isn't running and you feel you still want to join go ahead. There is spectator parking at all the events for a uknown cost (sometimes free) and it is free to come into the show to walk around...so you could always bumb a ride into the show with someone and leave your car someone further out than the spectator parking)
Any questions please ask, like I said have been doing this for 5 years now and am friends with people that have done it for many more years than me. If i don't know the answer i sure can find it out.

This just in...the official route will go through Dodgville, WI on route 23 on Friday That it's all I know. Someone from the chamber is trying to plan events for the drive through.
Northern IL Fiero Enthusiast have a website dedicated to this event, with links to Google maps for easy directions, and all events laid out in full detail
All rooms are booked at the hotels listed...so if you haven't booked yet, just find what you can.
On a side note. If there is anyone in the southern WI area or Northern IL area that wants to go but doesn't want to drive their car, or cant afford it, i am looking for a co-pilot to split rooms and gas with. Even if you don't know how to drive a 5 speed, i don't mind doing all the driving, just come and have a good time.
I want to leave early on the 9th to make it to WV and will either leave the Dells Late at night on the 13th or early am on the 14th. Don't know if i will be at the farewell breakfast.
I would also be willing on them meeting me in Crown Point or along the way in IL to join for the last couple of days.
PM me or let me know if you are interested.
42 Days til we meet up in Crown Point!
