... in 1992...

August 27th, 1992 my 1986 Fiero GT was reported stolen in Illinois.

It was recovered on September 4th, just a couple of days later.

I was running a Carfax on the car, as we have been shopping for a replacement for our dead Blazer, and decided to run the Fiero for the hell of it.

Just thought that was pretty cool to see the history.

Turns out, I'm the fourth owner of the car.

Anyone else run a Carfax on their car and find something interesting?

Yeah, we just bought a one owner van with 126k on the clock. Carfax gave us everything from the time it was new in 2002 to current. We have all of the oil maintenance and mileage. It is VERY impressive to look at, and the previous owner babied this thing.

Some stated report renewals and will report that there is a lien on every renewal.
Any time a title changed due to change of address, etc, it would re-report the lien as well.

The owner is the one who had it in Germany and re-imported it to the US.

Thank you VERY much! The reason there are no records since 2002 is because it's been sitting since then. We lost the keys and didn't know how many miles it has (digital odometer), so this gave us a rough estimate. We have plenty more that could be done, but the Trofeo was the one we needed most. Thanks again.

I am a fan of used cars with some miles on them. It usually means they were reliable. I am always scared of the low mileage cars.. We bought a low mileage 3800 for a friend's car sold as "tested and good". Once he picked ,it was all dirty/nasty inside and ended up throwing a bearing after a few months. Now the high mileage ones, have all been great. I have an Aztek with about 160,000 miles. I have taken care of it over the years and it'd drive anywhere any day. I am sure your right and that means it was only driven 7,600 miles in over a 12 year period. Must have been when it was given a new paint job and they quit driving it daily and in the winter.
Well now it has been completely rebuilt from one end to the other and doesn't go out in the rain unless I get caught at a car show.
