Some one should ask him to take a picture of the underside, then you would know if it's a 86/87 rear deck lid, or a 88 rear deck lid.

I thought $1500 was a typo. Why would anyone even think of spending that much on a decklid?

A quality used lid is just as good as a new lid. Wet sand, paint it and it looks new again. The ones that I have purchased cost no more than $50 each so $150 is about right for a brand new one. $1500 is a typo as you'd have to be a complete a**hole to pay that much.
