Generator keeps ultra caps topped off, Ultra Caps provide peak current for getting up to speed, and then generator drives motor. Make sure to pay attention to torque curve of that motor. Should get awesome fuel mileage also.

The motor is a Electric vehicle motor made for conversions, its good to go now. Ultracaps, need to advance a lil more. The technology exist, they have used both hemp and carbon nano tubes to make ultra caps that store far more for a given size and weight. As they stand right now, they would still work, weight might not be ideal, especially for the limited time it would give to accelerate.
Free piston engines are nothing new, but used as a generator, they are. There are several auto makers developing them as we speak.
