I have done it, for a customer, and really didn't cost too much for her, (her car got hit so I swaped EVERYTHING over to a different GT body, she first had a notchie and wanted a GT) I thought it was fun.
Too bad when I tried to sell perfect, totally rust free frames, I only sold one, and about 50 got scraped (not my choice on the scraping)

I have done it many times in the past, you need proof of ownership and a VIN and the dealer has the key codes.
