I just put a new stereo in my 84 Notchie as the original was falling apart. This is the one I got at the wrecker:
Problem is that there are absolutely no lights working at all. From what I can tell, there are about 10 bulbs in this thing, could all of them be dead? The display on the previous stereo was flakey as well and would only come on once in a blue moon. BTW, I used the common adapter kit to install, so no splicing was done. Oh, and the reason for the cassette is that it allows me to use a cassette/Aux cord gizmo so I can play MP3s.
If radio wiring and dash dimming is good... (GM radios uses dash dimmer when Parking light are on.)
Only 1-2 bulbs and often blown. You have to take apart the radio to fix them. use Google and YT

Im wondering if there is an issue with my dimmer or the dimmer wire? I would expect at least one light to be working in this thing! To be honest I haven't driven the car at night in many years.
So I confirmed last night that the face lights do in fact work, its just the display that is dark. So the question is what type of bulb this takes? Is it the single twist in light or the three lights soldered to the board?
