How about two days of driving in different areas of Los Vegas for the people that come from a long ways away. I personally would like to see more of Los Vegas Maybe Friday and Saturday. Some people that have to work over the weekend can get Friday off. Just A thought.
My thoughts are ending it at the club, so we can all talk B/S etc...
Mabey even have a BBQ at the club on Sun, make it a 2 day event.
I don't like the idea of the poker run, as your plans for it are not how a poker run is done. A poker run is when people do NOT drive as a group, make stops at different businesses and that is how you get a card, so it encourages people to go places and make stops to get cards. So I would drop that idea completely.
I like the idea of doing a second day BBQ, kind of a close out of the weekend. It also fulfills the idea of Fast Red's idea of extending the experience out for those who come from out of town and maintains the distance options for Saturday. A lunch may be preferable so those who need to travel have plenty of time to do so. What actual hardware would we need to make this happen, grill, tables etc?
We can also meet up for dinner for the Friday for those who drive into town.
I like the idea. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year. May we continue to stay in touch and continue to share quality time in our common interest.
I like the idea of the second day BBQ, I also like the idea of ending or beginning at the LVFC, however if we want to do the Cars and Coffee wouldn't it be better to start there then head to Lake Mead and then end at the LVFC? or maybe First Day do Cars and Coffee and the BBQ and Second Day do the Lake Mead Drive? Anyways just throwing out some thoughts.
Just to add confusion, if the second day is accommodating mostly LA folks, doing something on the south end of the valley ( like the original Sandy Valley ideas) would get them started home with a head start on Sunday. That PM traffic to LA can be really bad.

The second day is accommodating mostly the Las Vegas Fiero Club, this whole drive is for us, and everyone else is welcome to join. Remember "If you try to please everyone, no one will like it."

Thoughts are always appreciated and I think we can fit both the drive and Cars and Coffee in the same day. C&C starts at 0700 on Saturday and ends at 1000. From Speed Vegas to the Club it's about a 25 mile drive, 30 minutes up the I-15. I'm thinking we meet up at 1100 at the LVFC and drive off at 1145. That gives us enough buffer time to deal with traffic and show off our rides before we set off for Lake Mead. That'll hopefully put us at the Harbor House on Lake Mead by 1pm. After lunch, continue on the drive or separate and head home if you'd like to. I hope to drive back up into the Lake Mead Rec area and meeting up with the I-15 in Glendale. I was hoping to run to Coyote Springs and then endure the boring 31 mile drive back to the I-15, but it'll be around dusk by the time we get there; maybe another day. So, from Glendale, we drive back to the LVFC and call it a day.
Sunday, I believe, would be a better day for the BBQ. If people scatter after the Harbor House, it can give us a definite meeting time and point to regroup; I'm not sure how much longer we'll be out there. It'll also break up a potentially long day with C&C in the morning.

I don't think I'm trying to accommodate the LA guys, just trying out the extend the experience for everybody if they'd so choose to want to extend it. I've also posted on some Utah and Arizona Fiero Facebook pages so I'm trying to get people from the region here. I think late morning/early afternoon BBQ would be best to allow those who need to travel can.
Hopefully that will make everybody's experience enjoyable. Selfishly, I'm trying to put some miles on the new clutch.

I think next year we try to do a more major event, if we pull this one off I'll start planning it. This is just a stepping stone
Change to the change and final schedule for Saturday. I ran the numbers again, going out to Overton/Gendale would make almost a 5 hour driving day so I reduced it down a bit. With doing Cars and Coffee, it could make a really long day.
Cars and Coffee is at Speed Vegas and begins at 7am. For those who want to attend, we'll meet up at the ARCO/AM PM just south of the M resort and casino at 6:45. It's a 10 minute drive to C & C and we'll get to see the sights and sounds of that.
Cars and Coffee closes at 10am, we'll then make our way to the Las Vegas Fiero Club. Google Maps puts the trip at around 35 minutes, so lets assume that we get there by 11.
We'll go ahead and set off for Harbor House by 11:30, the travel time with no traffic is about 45 minutes. With admission into the park and maybe stopping off for a couple of photos, lets assume about 90. By 1pm, we should be at the restaurant.
Hopefully by 2:30 we should be back on the road. Those who wish to go back to the city can break off, the rest of us can go either towards the dry lake bed outside of Boulder City or the Hoover Dam. We can make that decision that day (weather, interest, and car reliability pending) From there, head back to the club and call it a day. I would assume that we'd be back at the shop by 4 or 5.
BBQ Sunday for lunch at the club if the interest is there. What equipment would be needed to pull that off? Grill/paper plates/etc

We have a grill(s), We have a couple of tables, one to put food on, Maybe could use a couple fold out tables to eat on, hard to say without knowing what the turn out will be. Otherwise we just need food, drinks, and most important, People.
We should have enough things to do to for entertainment, We have a pool table, a fooseball table, air hockey, darts, we also might have a horse shoe pit and tether ball, if we can get them set up. There are 3-wheelers to ride too(at your own risk) and possibly a go-kart. And burn barrels and a fire pit if/when it goes late.
Wish I was closer id love to do this. every time I come to Vegas I spend most of my time at Caesars .... not that there is anything wrong with that lol Any place to rent a Fiero for the weekend? lol
Now we got the drive down, the BBQ, what time should we start 10, 11 ??? Should we make it a potluck, everyone bring a side or drinks? Opinions everyone.?.?
We even have a deep fryer, so a deep fried turkey(yum) or fries etc are an option. Just letting everyone know options.
Edit to add: BTW Familys, kids, pets, are all welcome. (if pets eat each other, that's on you)

I just looked it up, the Air Force Base here will be doing Red Flag exercises during that time, so we may even get a free air show We are right under the runway here.
Red flag is going on now. Shouldn't be by the time we are doing the drive. Just realized it's February already, I gotta get the car back on the road. I'm really looking forward to this, the last one was a lot of fun!
This will only be the second annual drive ever so not much of a sampling to give an average from, lol. I believe they were 10 cars last year with one being a Suzuki.
Edit to add picture. I'm counting 10 in there. I guess it was 11 with the camera car. I'm trying to remember all the people that were there and I think all the cars are in this picture.

So are we still on for March 4 Saturday? and what other day Fri Sun So I can inform others in Cali WE need to make renovations soon. Any suggestions? Where we can keep the out of towners together.
A couple of suggestions: The "M" resort is right next to where we are meeting on Sat Morning, and very close to the Cars and Coffee. The South Point casino is the next closest, just a couple of miles closer to town on I15. South Point is bigger, and has more to do ( bowling alley, movie theater, etc). It also has a good, inexpensive Prime Rib rest ( our favorite in town).

The "M" and South point are only close to cars and coffee, but on the entire opposite end of the valley of the ending point of the drive and BBQ (and start of the drive if you don't do the cars and coffee), and far away from the strip. Really they are close to nothing, those casinos suck (my opinion.)
I need some more feedback on the BBQ for the 5th, opinions?, suggestions ? Like starting time, who wants to bring what, etc.
As a result of buying another one of these I wont be able to come over. Thanks to all for the offers of help etc and I will hopefully make it in 2018 ( if it continues ).

We're still on, meeting at the ARCO/AM PM at the M Resort at 0645 if you want to join us for Cars and Coffee. Extra day will be Sunday for a BBQ at the Las Vegas Fiero Club. If not, around 11 at the Fiero Club. I'll PM you in a few

Count me in for at least 3, we'll bring teriyaki chicken on a stick. Does 11 sound good? I'll probably have to leave around 1 - 1:30 though.

Bummer! Congrats on the new car though. I hope to get another drive or two in '17, guarantee we'll do one in '18 before I retire and move!
I messaged Cars and Coffee this week and made sure that it was okay for us to come, this is what they replied back with:
We'd love to have your club there! If a few of you get there early enough, you can save a row for yourselves!! The show starts at 7
So our plan of meeting up and riding in from the M sounds like a plan that should work.
Hopefully most likely it'll be back open by then, but I believe SpeedVegas has temporary closed due to the fatal Lamborghini crash a few days ago.
Yeah, that was horrible, but the news is reporting that they'll open next week. It sounds like the Cars and Coffee event is still going to be held there this weekend according to their social media site.
I got a message from the Harbor House Cafe asking how many people we had coming on the 4th, that way they can plan and whatnot. A few months ago they said reservations were not needed, but whatever! I told them I didn't have a firm number yet but assumed 10-20 people. So, if you could please, by Tuesday, 21 February, please chime in on here or on the Las Vegas Fiero Club Facebook page if you're coming and how many are coming with. For instance, we've got 4 going. Try not to do both as I'll get confused with numbers and accidentally tell them we have like 200 going when in reality we have like 25.
It will be just me. Yes... gravel , dust and some pot holes. It's best to come down the paved boat launching side road. The other side leading to the restaurant is a dirt road with lots of dust.
That has nothing to do with our route or any public roads for that matter. That was at the speedway and only the company closed for a bit.
With us going to Speed Vegas that morning for Cars and Coffee, the accident may cancel the morning event. However, the facility does open next week sometime.
Speed Vegas, where Cars and Coffee is located at 14200 Las Vegas BVLD S 89054
Event starts at 7am but we're going to meet up at the ARCO AM/PM at the "M" Resort at 6:45. That way we can roll in force and stay in the same lane of the parking lot.
We Would like to get the address for the start, address for the shop and end of the run for sat and sun for the out of towners so we can get a room close by. Is it better to get a room near the start or finish of the skid. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Not really any Hotels come to mind near the Las Vegas Club, the closet that I can think of would either be the Lucky Club Hotel & Casino on Cheyenne Ave or the Cannery Casino & Hotel on E Craig Rd, should note I've never actually stayed at either of those places. sardonyx247 might be able to suggest something closer as that is his neck of town.

Cars and coffee is on the opposite end of town of the shop (the end of the run and the BBQ) Really the official start is also the shop, Cars and coffee is like a prequel. both are on the opposite sides of the valley of the strip, The strip is mid way. To find rooms around the shop area look up hotels for/around "Nelis Air Force Base"
The actual address of the shop is 5340 E Alto Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89156 (St. is a typo) The corner of Alto Ave. and Betty Ln.
