What's special about a 84-96 Corvette auto shift knob? Does it look any different than one from a Camaro (which is plug-and-play in a Fiero)?
I have a leather wrapped Camaro auto shift knob in my '86 GT. Looks 1000% better than the ridiculously over-sized original T-handle. In this picture found online, the shifter stalk may've been shortened, but this is what the knob looks like. [EDIT] Turns out that's fierosound's Corvette knob in the picture.

That's a picture of my Indy before I swapped the automatic out for a Getrag 5-speed. The Corvette one is "plug and play". I shortened the shaft - no need for it to be so high.
The Corvette knob is more compact and I liked the style of the leather wrapped stitching better. Most Camaro shift knobs I came across looked like this.

Now you've got me wondering which shift knob I actually swapped into my '86 GT. Forgive me, this was done 12 years ago. I have this Fiero stored elsewhere, but next time I'm in the area I'll have to take a look. I do know it is leather wrapped, as the all plastic ones aren't very attractive.
[EDIT] Found an old post of mine which clarifies my befuddled memory.
the yellow trim is an 85gt as plug and play, and the other was in an 86SE with a shorter lever. at the time, i had plans to wire up the button on the side to do something cool, but i think the only thing i had was some neon interior lights, haha.
Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I don't believe that the auto T-handle looks that bad. Don't like the all plastic version but the leather wrapped one looks OK to my eyes. As they say "one mans food is another mans poison".

I got one of these a first, but thought it looked too bulky as well.
i really like the way it felt and looked after the shifter was shortened. i honestly don't remember what i did though. must have just cut it. Seems like that was my solution to a lot of things back then, haha.
that's my only hang up right now. I feel kind of guilty after somebody spent so much time putting together a clean, stock rebuild. First thing i want to do is start hacking it up again, haha.
here's a scary statement, i miss the sound quality of the bose factory radio's i've had in my 2004 and now 2014 mazda 6... i've got some pretty decent 6.5's(JL coax or a pair or macrom components i never installed in my last fiero) that i want to install as a start. but i'm thinking these things will all be summer projects i can work on when i have the time.
