Hi Pennock's Community! My partner and I are planning on selling our 1985 Fiero but I'm not sure what to ask for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Info and pics below:

Hello! We are the owners of a beautiful 1985 Fiero. We recently bought it from the original owner because we just fell in love with it, but right after purchasing we found a great deal on a 4x4 which is just more practical for us here in BC. We can't afford to keep both, so we are hoping to sell the Fiero to an owner who is going to actually really appreciate and take care of it (hence posting here first before autotrader or anything). We had our mechanic look over it last week and he said he's never seen one of that age in this good shape mechanically. Only 53,500km, has been in a garage its whole life, never driven in the winter - used only as a summer pleasure vehicle. The only one in Vancouver with suede and lambswool interior, speakers in the headrests. Comes with original manuals and all maintenance receipts, as well as info on securing vintage plates. Sun roof can pop off and be stored on hood.

The interior is the only part of the car not in spectacular shape - the lambswool seats are looking a little tired, though the suede is in great nick and the interior is clean. The only upcoming maintenance is to replace the catalytic converter. Non-urgent, and use a mechanic as good as ours! He quoted us around $380 CAD.

Hard to say just from a few pic...
While Looks nice, Many "Perfect" Fiero's are complete junk and dangerous.

Why?

Many Know that even a "Perfect" Fiero Body you see Often still have Major Rust problems. More so in North US States, Canada, and more using heavy Road Salt in "Winter."
Let's say a car only drives in Summer and stored in a garage in Winter for Every Year since delivered as New... Unlikely but rare possibility.
Road Salt (and Ocean Salt if near one) is often still attacking because salt will hind in/on the car, in pavement, and more and "go active" every rain storm or even just High Humidity at any time.

Battery Tray and everything under it can "rust" from salt and/or acid when have problems w/ battery or alternator.

Other then fixing "surface rust..." DIY "Fixing" them often makes this worse. Most Body/Frame shops won't touch them because eat Hours of Time, $ and legal issues if have problems or crashes after.

Search for rust areas here then search the car for problems.

Clean and low mileage 2M4 Fiero. Looks like it is in great shape. Stateside there is not much demand for the 4 cylinder models so its hard to say what someone is willing to pay for it. My opinion is that its probably worth $2,000-$2500 US $. Just put a price on it that pleases you and go from there.

I own a black car like this with less miles.

In the states with the V6 $5000 to $6500. I would really have to look it over in person to be exact. If there is any rust in the trunk or under it the price could drop.

Note that is a Fairly rare car. Unfortunate that does not mean more money.

I see the wear in the interior so that can hurt the price.

I would make sure to clean and detail the engine and make sure to advertise it is a V6 car as many will over look it due to the standard body.

This car is really a GT without the ground FX and nose.

If you look it should also have a WS6 suspension too.

This essentially was the early Formula before there was one. The 86 got the GT panels but no WS6 suspension.

Great example of 'rare but not desirable' with the lambswool seats and a V6 in a bumperpad car. The problem is most people looking to spend good money on a Fiero want a GT or a Formula, the bumperpads are more of an acquired taste.

The biggest things this car potentially has going for it are the low miles (kilometers) and lack of rust. If you can show the battery tray, the trunk corners behind the trunk carpet, and the upper frame rails in the back are rust-free, that should up the value in the Canadian market substantially. If so, at least USD $2500, but you might be waiting a while to find the right buyer.

clean pre 88 GTs are getting over $6,000 The 88s low mile and clean are over $10k.

To be honest this car is the perfect car for being a custom car. You can add a wide body or other body parts and make the car you own and not have to pay the GT price to get the V6 or WS6.

Not everyone is a GT fan either.

$2500 is about what a Average Clean 4 cylinder brings anymore unless it is a Pace Car.

The reality is under the skin these cars are sisters. The V6 and WS6 and lower miles are the real value here and it is important value. Anyone can bolt on body parts but most can’t swap engines.
