Meet the MWFC clubs!
Midwest Fiero Clubs is a dedicated group of enthusiasts whose passion is to promote and preserve the Pontiac Fiero and the Fiero Community. MWFC has organized and facilitated Anniversary Fiero Events. The Midwest Fiero clubs is a joint effort consisting of multiple Fiero clubs. In this post we are featuring one of those clubs, the Michigan Fiero Club.

Located in MI, home to the original Fiero Factory, our members have a good deal of Fiero knowledge, from how and why the cars were designed how they were, to engine swaps, mods, and general Fiero trivia. We are always looking for new members and would love to see some of you in 2021.
Our biggest events are generally the Fall Color Cruise and Car Shows. For years, we hosted the Annual Michigan Fiero Club car show, but as of lately, we’ve chosen to team with the Kappa Club to get a larger audience involved. Some of our favorites are Cruisin’ Hines, where we set up a Fiero specific space and watch the classics cruise by, Woodward Dream Cruise, and Back to the Bricks. MFC is a pretty laid back club where we focus on social events, and generally socializing amongst each other. We pride ourselves on being a non-judgemental group of folks who are first to help one another out when needed. If you like Fieros, you belong in the MI Fiero Club.

Membership is $30 a year. You can contact the website www.michiganfieroclub.com and folks are always welcome to view us on Facebook at Michigan Fiero Club.

Generally, we start the season with a Spring Dust Off, which his usually a short one day run, and lunch stop. As a club we travel to car shows, have a monthly Breakfast Club – which is usually a meet for breakfast (or lunch) then a run to a different event. We also have monthly general meetings the third Monday of the Month (or Sundays these days), we host (or go to) a series of Car Shows during the Summer months, including Hines Park, Woodward Dream Cruise, and Back to the Bricks, and then we end our Summers with a Fall Color Cruise. The cruise is usually a laid back multi-day cruise with multiple event stops and a hotel lay-over. Lately, we have been teaming up with the Kappa Club (Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice) for the Annual show, and some runs. Orphan two seaters seem to play well together and it’s just really great to watch a sea of Fieros, Sky, and Solstices zip by.

Michigan Fiero club leadership changes yearly via elections but is made up of a President, Past President, two Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary, Activities Chair, Membership Chairperson(s), Website Team, and Merchandise Chair. Generally the leadership team consists of a small group of dedicated Fiero addicts. Roger, our previous President, has a Northstar powered Fiero and served for quite a few terms as President. Our President as of 2020 is Jim Nye. Jim has been into Fieros since he was 6 years old, and currently has an 88 fastback-formula with a 3800. He just completed the swap, is working out the bugs now, and deciding what color it will be painted. Our Vice Presidents are Rich Dafforn and Don Tidrow. Rich has served as VP the last year or so, has planned some great runs, is also a Corvette guy. Don T is a new VP for 2020, a longtime Fiero owner, and currently working on getting his Fiero road ready over the Winter. Our new treasurer is Don Connors. Don has served as President, VP, and we were able to talk him into being the treasurer for 2020. He’s got a silver Fastback that’s in fantastic condition. Pam Maier is our new Secretary. She and her husband picked up their first Fiero just a few years ago, and have 3, or 4 (we are losing count). They have a 3.4 swapped blue GT show winner among their fleet. Our Activities Chair is Sue Connors. She and Don have been planning our events for a few years now and been a part of the Board for quite some time. Our membership chairs are Floyd Dobson and Sue Oles. Floyd was Product Design and Release Engineer for Pontiac Powertrain Electrical/Electronic Systems and an original founder of the club. Sue has been a member for years and is also a part of our web team. She (and her husband Lou) have helped to plan and run many a fall color tour and were editors of the MFC Newsletter for years. Lou has a barn of Fiero parts and they are always first to help a member in need. The website team is currently three people: Kristina Kahn, who’s currently building a Northstar Fiero to go along with her other(s), and also does the social media for the club, Sue Oles, and Jim Nye. Gary Taylor serves as merchandise. Gary has been in the club for years, and has also been doing merchandise for quite some time. From stickers, to hats, to sweaters, Gary is our guy! He’s always carting around trunks of merchandise from show to show! Besides these current leaders, the club has had some incredible people running it over the years. Some have passed on, some have moved, but that’s usually the only way folks leave this club!

The Michigan Fiero Club was established in 1993 and is one of the longer running Fiero Clubs still in existence. Our membership varies from some of the original members, to those that joined this year. We currently have around 70+ paid members, but some are more active than others. Some of our members worked in some form on the Fiero Project in the 80s, while others are enthusiasts and just want to share our love of these cars. Our longest running member was one of five Fiero owners who started the club, and was the Product Design and Release Engineer for Pontiac Powertrain Electrical/Electronic Systems.
