All of a sudden I cannot open the rear trunk lid. Key goes in ok, turn it to the right but dont hear a " popping sound" and the lid will not raise up, seems to be stuck. The engine side vents are secured under the lid. How the hell do I get the trunk opened??? Drill out the rear lock ??

Well, finally was able to get the trunk lid up. The key is ok as is the solenoid. The problem is in the alignment. The lefty side seems to be a tad high enough to off set the the closing on the " U shaped" mental bracket. Of note...the upper right and upper left edge of the lid have a epoxy square holding the deck lid underneath to the side adjustment bracket. Look closely on a 85 ( many 84-88 also). My left side top edge ( underneath) was not attached. Will add new epoxy to keep it level. Fiero's are like " bad kids", everyday its something, then again the " kid" is 35 years old.

NonOp PL has very little to do w/ Deck Lid "Leveling." Leveling can cause PL fail or just made lid look off. Should be 2 large plastic "bolts" near the truck to level the lid when closed.

PL Solenoid Ground Is the Latch and Strike loop and are Adjustable. The loop and I think the latch have "slotted" holes for this reason.
PL needs a bit of Tension where those meet or have problems like people getting crap in there and can't make ground connection.
Tension Can be:
Fixed latch parts rub the loop to ground
Moving part of latch has tension when closed to ground
or Both

But If latch have too much Tension or other issues and Bind then you might hear PL operate but lid still won't open.
Even "Dead" truck seal can make NonOp PL because the seal is also "spring" to tension the latch parts.
