That is, in fact, BubbaJoeXXX's Northstar on the highway. The concept is simple, find a 3rd gen TA, then, proceed to make a Fiero, though difficult, many naysayers abound. ' You're doing it wrong, doing what you want ! ' ' You should...put the engine in the front, where it belongs ! ' ' A big block is too big, put in an LS ! ' ' An automatic six is wimpy, you should put in a manual ! ' lol !

LOL... so it is!
I've been having so much trouble with images opening here for the last few days (recent forum issue), that I didn't really take a close enough look at your third image.
'76 Maserati Merak SS Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign's Maserati Merak bodywork, beautiful. It is then totally natural to transplant an aluminum V6TT or V8TC into the space formerly occupied by uninspiring iron lumps. Had the corporate board made the decision to insert an actual sportscar engine, their sales would certainly have taken a greater part of the market share, tripled. An aluminum canted 3-valve cylinder head for the duke block, a turbo intercooled improvement good for just under 200 hp, a reasonable compromise. The weakness of the bottom end's conrods and main caps, when addressed with stronger smallblock production pieces, would still, to this day make for a decent power source. Hindsight for a Fiero with roadrace and rallye ambition, hillclimbs and scca type class, stocks and modified, you know, sportscar. '
' I imagine that some were surprised that a block could be made that way, and work so well. DOHC Sheet Metal Engine Pete Aardema and Kevin Braun ' The brilliant machinists who designed and built a 920-hp V-12 from scratch ! ' ...fixed that headline for you Brandan. Jim Feuling

o Yeah, I did have a look at that vid, and I love what he's done. Now, the only things I would change, reduced wheelbase, lowered engine, integral chassis cage rollbars. Trailing arms rear suspension and uprights, .... There is a plan, drawings and blueprints, cads.
... That Firebird Midengine All the ingredients, built to super duty ! So many details done right, as told by the builder. An ultimate FireBird, the sum of the components. Entertaining YT comment.

Cooling guy. He's designed the cooling system for the transverse 5L V8, merely feeling the fans doing their thing. Jim Celsius, the man with the thermometer.
Something a little different. Slightly longer wheelbase, more trunk space, roomier cabin, powered ' adequately '. Naturally, the tires could be changed out to lower profiles, in keeping with modern norms.
Something like this.
Not chopped lower. Tempered safety glass, sections of the factory door glass, added to make a longer cabin, the quarters a retro detail. The factory windshield has been moved forward, expanding the cabin roominess, space. More slope to the rear, the rear glass near flush with the trailing edge, a slightly curved trailing edge. A Dodge Caravan's windscreen, waterjetted to the desired dimensions. A red Fiero that is the new model year. ' Yeah, it's a '98 ' What should have happened, the Pontiac brand resurrected from history. Fiero Tempest GT.
