I've added another way to upload images in your posts. In addition to the "Upload Image" button - which still works as before, btw - you can now copy & paste images straight into your post!
So for instance, let's say you want to post an image that you saw somewhere on the internet. On the original image, simply right click it and choose "Copy Image". Next, inside your post, either hit CTRL-V (on Windows) or right click and choose "Paste". The image will be uploaded to the PFF server and automagically be inserted in your post.
The source of the copied image does not matter. So it can be the internet, Windows' Snipping tool, or your favorite image editor, it doesn't matter.
IMPORTANT: When you upload images using the "Upload Image" button, the system uses the filename to see if you have posted that images before and will tell you that the image already exists on the server. That way, no duplicates are stored. By using the copy & paste option, there's no way for the system to know if this image has been uploaded before or not. So do not copy and paste the same image over and over again, since this will create duplicates and waste precious storage space on my server.
IMPORTANT 2: Please be aware you are still posting the images to my server. So please remember that storage space isn't infinite. Do not abuse the system by copying and pasting tons of memes.
IMPORTANT 3: Okay, I know you want to. So go ahead and test it out in this thread. 😄

That's very handy, being able to select an actual image (and not just a file name) from within an image viewer utility.

Slight correction. You need to Right Click on the selected image, choose Copy Image, and then Paste it in the posting text box.
And a friendly reminder to everyone posting images, especially now that it's getting easier and easier to do so here. Pay attention to where you're positioning the image link within the posting text box! We don't need to be seeing more and more images located in the middle of a sentence!
[EDIT] And maybe Cliff can address this... but I suspect to avoid a clickable image icon from appearing in a post (instead of an image), that the current maximum file size is still 2 MB (despite the icon indicating >300 KB)?

It's not working for me at all. Might it be a Windows 7 limitation? Or Chrome, maybe?
I'm having the same problem... with Win 7 and Chrome (if that makes a difference).
In my previous post, I was using Cliff's new system to copy an image stored on my hard drive accessed through an image viewer utility (ACDSee), and it worked great.
However, a moment ago I tried to copy (and paste) an image from an online source... and it doesn't work. Nothing happened.

Copying and trying to Paste an image into the body of message had no reaction -- though I will say I hadn't even noticed the Upload Images button until it was mentioned in here! I've been using PIP for about a year!

Well, I'm telling ya... it didn't work yesterday. Not just for me, but for several others here.
However, it does appear to be working today, so that's great!
Cliff, you might want to slightly edit your first post (to cut down on any confusion), as there are actually three different "Copy" options to choose from when an image is right-clicked.

Add a MD5 or other hash to copy/past imgs would help... "Adding" the hash can as simple as file naming. The warning if new c/p imgs has same showing first img.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I'll look into it.

You cannot copy from the Windows Photo Viewer, and paste here.
Something is definitely weird with this new image upload system, as I originally had no problem copying and pasting from ACDSee (my usual image viewer), but today it won't work. And just for the heck of it, I tried to use Windows Photo Viewer, and it doesn't work to copy and paste from there either (as Raydar had mentioned).
Cliff... I don't know what's up, but something seems to be changing from day to day.
I am still able to Copy Image and Paste from an online source though.

Very interesting. I can copy paste from Sketch & Snip, its outdated counterpart Snipping Tool, Paint, Paint 3D, Chrome, and darktable(an image editing software) but NOT directly from file explorer, or the "Photos" Win10 default photo viewer.
Windows 10 64 bit, version 21H2, build 19044.1526. Running latest version of Chrome for my browser
Tried from 2 local photo viewers, not internet. Worked for me only *after* I got logged into my account, then reloaded the posting page. When I merely had my username/pass filled in on the posting page but wasn't actually logged in yet, then it didn't work.

It's been that way ever since Cliff implemented the Image Upload box. From 2-1/2 years ago...
Yes, you need to be logged in because all images are stored in your own private album. But once you have posted a message (or logged in through the main forum page) you should stay logged in for a year or so. If you are not logged in the next time you visit PFF, then there's something odd going on with your cookies (maybe you block them?).
Just tried to copy and paste with two different photo viewing programs... still no dice.

Note: If you copy directly from some web sites... the copy will fail. Many sites have blocked copying and/or saving images. Either site blocked right click etc or have layers of images making copy/saving fail. Many images are "Dynamic" and while you see them... fails to save etc even if you save the whole page.
