Was that NOT supposed to be removed? Is it here in this pic?

the strip was to be removed some lazy pontiac employees left them so we have some in the wild. They are a life saver for water on the back deck going on the exhaust manifold.

Do not remove it.

I had mine done years ago and the tech told me to take it off before it came in and put it back after it was done.

The water is bad enough on the back side of the engine with it and with out even worse.

The tech said removing it did little and if anything created more issues.

With the weatherstrip removed, the rear window gets VERY HOT from exhaust heat rising there.
It can be like sitting in front of an open oven on a hot day. Leave it on.

I've put them back on both my cars (lucky to find a few in wrecking yards).

That intake boot doesn't look like most I've seen on V6 Fieros, is that the pre-recall one?

I still have my tube as they gave me most of my parts back less the manifold.

hyperv6 is right. The recall work was never done on your car. The intake tube is the giveaway.

I wish that someone would reproduce the deck lid weather strip. Cold rain water on the rear manifold is the main cause of cracks. I found one in a junkyard a while back and installed it on my 87GT. One of the best "mods" ever.

No one will touch it due to liability.

To make a strip that was removed by the mfg due to claimed fires and a car burns with a repo you will see legal action fast.

One only needs a couple clips and a strip of rubber to make your own.
