Hi - I have finally after a few niggling problems fixed my 87 GT (apart from waiting for a new oil sender)

So as it is dark wintery nights - what are my options for brighter headlights and the other lights ??

I want to try and have just plug and play in the original headlamp glass if this is possible

So any pointer are much appreciated.

I replaced my OEM headlight bulbs with H4 Halogen Bulb compatible housings. The ones I got are made with a glass lens (not plastic) and are DOT approved. They look nice, much brighter and I can easily find replacement bulbs.
I have a pic of my notes with more information

CarPC - WinXP Pro (GT Sport Edition)

⚠️ Warning: UK requires All vehicles to Pass MOT Inspections and current MOT rules can and often will Fail an Inspection just for crap lights let alone Illegal lights.
A few years ago, MOT added/change Inspection Rules and made it harder to Pass with iffy lights as a direct result of idiots installing Illegal HID and other "upgrades" sold thru Ebarf, amazon and many local shops too. (Search MOT here to read more in other threads.)

GT w/ Amber Rear Turn lights should use 2057 bulbs.
Red tail/stop lights could Pass w/ 2357 bulbs that are a little brighter but otherwise same as 2057 and 1157.

For LED HL can get true ECE "approved" HL for UK and EU from Trucklite and some others but expect to pay a lot. These have correct cutoff pattern for the dip/low beam to Pass Optical Testing use in MOT inspections.
Can use brighter Halogen Sealed beams and others from real Brands like Hella Osram/Sylvania GE etc. But Bright HL Draws more power and need relays. Phillips Hella and some others have Discontinued many Sealed Beams and some shells with replaceable bulbs that replace them.

For HL Dip/low beam Pattern is 3 of them for you but use UK HL unless often have to drive in EU then maybe use the flat pattern.

⚠️ Warning:If have Dim bulbs now... is often Not the bulbs but wiring problems and installing bright bulbs may not help and cause way worse headaches if left like that.
