The 4.9 has been parked for 10 years while I messed with a couple Mercedes. Though I love my S55 AMG, I have been itching for a fun project.
Looked at different ideas, and kept coming back to the Fiero. Last week I bit the bullet, and this showed up today.

2007 GTP complete drop out.
I have a few decisions to make about the build, but do know I will be doing the cam, lifters, timing chain, pulley, injectors and E85.
I will be doing a leak down and bore scope over the next few days to decide if I am pulling the heads or not.
Not sure if I am keeping the DBW, or going to a cable TB. I guess a lot depends on a conversation with a PCM tuner.
After that is decided, I will completely separate the old harness and build the new one.
I see a lot of older threads, but who is currently doing PCM tuning?

I did make it this far today.

This will probably be a six month build, due to just closing on house so money is tight.

I'll watch closely since my 2006 GTP will be used for the same swap. Toying with doing the same upgrades, but the motor has just over 100K and probably should rip it down entirely and start from scratch. Really runs good so I hate to do unnecessary work......

This engine has 120k on it. I am in the used parts industry and bought it from a yard I trust. Also saw a video of it running.
Stuck a bore scope in it today, and it looks great inside. Plugs have some of the best burn patterns I have seen. Pulled the valve covers, and it is spotless inside.
I will do the leak down test this weekend, and if it is good, I will not be pulling the heads like I had originally intended, since I can replace the valve springs with the heads on.

Good luck with your project.
Aside from that... it's great to see you again! It's been a minute.
Sinister is still one of the favorite "go-tos" for tuning. I can't speak about others, but I'm sure there are a few out there.

Ryan at Sinister is the only tuner I would trust. He has years of experience and an excellent understanding of what works and what doesn't.
