I want to replace the trunk lock cylinder because I lost the key and the lock wasn't working very well to being with since they tried to break into the trunk and they pretty much destroyed the lock.

But the trunk lock cylinder that's sold by the Fiero Store as well as RockAuto, are for the notchbacks and don't fit...

Yes, those are for notchbacks, they don't fit fastbacks.

This is the correct one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/304968230480

But they don't mention a part number and I don't think these really cost $85...

Cliff, I thought the lock cylinder was the same and the only difference was the length of the rod between the cylinder and latch. Of course, 88's also used a different key blank than earlier years.

I used the 20504696 number in a GM part search and came up with these OEM kits.

Rear Compartment or Tailgate Lock Cylinder. CYLINDER KIT. LOCK KIT. LOCK PKG.
Part Number: 12398669
Supersession(s): 20496707; 20495086; 701131AB1; 20500897; 20496058; 20504696; 701131AA1

12398669 in ebay got this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/17...4-xj0aBr&itmprp=enc%

20496058 turned this up

https://www.ebay.com/itm/29...ash=item4436fb489e:g nUAAOSwSn1cS5FR&itmprp=enc%

Seller does not have a pic but says he will provide on upon request

Weird, since those won't fit any Fiero.

Yes, I had seen that one and it looks like it will fit but he asks $40 shipping (for something that fits an envelope).

BTW: When searching for "Strattec Part Search" on the internet...

The only Strattec Fiero Trunk/Deck Lock offered is #700508 for the "base" model with two mounting holes.
https://aftermarket.strattec.com/product-finder

RockAuto shows the same Trunk/Deck Lock options on a V6 as Parts Geek has.

I'm having trouble finding a replacement {GT Deck Lid} lock. It seems that the notch-back deck lid locks are easy to come by, but not the fast-backs'. Anyone have any idea where I could find one or modify any other lock to work?

Fastback deck locks are available alone on eBay, with the occasional set popping up once in a while (trunk and 2 door locks with a matched key). Search for those that only fit 86 to 88.

It looks like that you found the correct trunk lock for a fastback, and you don't have many options on the cost.....

I was able to simply replace the old cylinder with the cylinder of the notchback lock. Took a bit of Dremel work to get the old cylinder out, but the new cylinders fits and works perfectly.
