Beginning January 1st, safety inspections go away. You will still be required to get emission testing if your vehicle is less than 25 years old. All Fieros are completely exempt from testing. Just pay for registration.

Heh, this law was enacted two years ago. I don't know why they waited two years to put it into effect.

That was the most frustrating thing ever when I lived in San Antonio. I'd have to make an appointment, get my car inspected, and if it was literally anything (the tint on my car was too dark, even though it came that way), or... the driver's side window won't go down, or whatever... they'd fail you.

Florida did away with all of this stuff back in 2000... and it's been great. I also don't understand the point of doing emissions testing on a car that's less than 10 years old? What even is the point? Are they concerned everyone is going to install a supercharger and remove their catalytic converters? Like, what is the likelihood of that? Maybe 1 out of every 100 cars?

Let me tell you about California...

Yes they are worried you will put some aftermarket device on your car. Lets say an oil catch can from the PCV to intake. Nope don't do it.
Every 2 years you have to go in and have your car inspected.

Fiero’s are exempt from emissions testing in Texas? Consider yourself lucky sir!
P.S. Don’t move to Calif. You and your Fiero will be in for a rude awakening. Ask me how I know. 🙁

Kitskaboodle, I have never ever had to have the emissions tested on anything I had to have inspected. New or old. I think major metro areas require it but I am in San Antonio now and still have net needed one.

Oh my gosh!
Good job you all don't live in Europe.😉
My car gets inspected every two years, and even the question of the windscreen tint has come up once in a while.
My car has to pass emisions testing and safety (brakes, suspensions, structure, etc...)
However, for emissions, it has to conform to a standard of an 80's carburator car. So not a big deal.

NJ is an expensive place to live and the left has a big presence here but with auto inspections they exempt all vehicles over 25 yrs old from inspection and provide lifetime registrations (Antique car plates) for a one time fee. On newer vehicles they just do a quick check for codes,
