I don't know if I said that right, haha... but anyone know where I can get replacement shims or dowel sleeves (?) that go over the little mount point that sticks out from the trunk hinge?

Specifically, I'm talking about this area (see circled):




Originally, this would have had a plastic sleeve over it, and that would have (ideally) eliminated any rattle or play in the decklid vents. My daughter's car didn't come with these though, and one of the decklids was nearly worth through from rattling.

You should have/could have taken as many as you needed from that place you were at last week.

By the way, the picture above are of Rodney Dickman's new limiting straps for when you rebuild your hinges. The hardest part was getting the old rivets off.

FYI, wanted to mention something that we discovered. My daughter's car was a veritable rattle trap... just a mess when we first got it. Mostly due to age and wear, etc. But we removed the rear SMC fiberglass clip and replaced ALL of the original foam pads and hidden weatherstripping (that you don't really see), and the back of the car is ridiculously solid. I mean, everything was taken apart and rebuilt too of course, including the whole rear suspension and brakes, but the biggest difference seemed to come from replacing all the foam padding that's hidden between the upper frame rails and the rear clip / quarters.

The only rattles we hear now are from the front suspension, which hasn't yet been redone... but the only thing we get from the back is engine rumble now.
