I saw a yellow 2-door convertible today. The doors weren't square, but would fit in a 2'x2' area. It had a trunk strapped behind it. The nose tapered to the front, where there was a full grill. It had widefenders to either side of the nose. Obviously the front wheels are about 2 feet out. The headlights came up off the bumber. I didn't have time to look for emblems, can't post a pic, and can't find it online. It's smaller than a Fiero.

No. More similar to the one in War Of The Roses, or Funny Farm. The car I saw was angular. The fenders on the car in your picture are nicely curved, small items. This car had huge fenders that looked more like sails. Kindof like a miniature one of these without running boards, or a rumble seat, but with low doors and with the back of the ragtop at an angle. Oh, and the fenders flared as they came out from the sides with little curvature. I believe the bottom of the doors sat on the frame rail, but the arm could easily rest on top of the door.

That's that I thought. I looked at images of Morgan GT's, I believe. Closer, but no. The grille was barely slanted, it had no running boards, and the fenders were more like an afterthought. The doors were also smaller. The headlights were like those on the Chevrolet Cabriolet. The engine vents were further forward. The bumbers were basically straight pieces. The steering wheel was on the left side, but the car looked British, to me. The wheels had spokes, but the centers were much larger. The grille covered the entire front and the first few inches of the sides. The hood was very angular. The tops of the doors were low-slung and semi-circular, reaching as low as the bottom of the steering wheel. I wish I could post an image of the car on here. It's possible that the running boards were removed, flared fenders added, and the year is different.

It looked sortof like a 1940s MG or HRG with huge fenders that can all the way in to the sides of the body.

Very close, but it was lower and didn't have running boards--although those may have been removed.

That's what I saw. No idea what it is, but those front fenders aren't to my liking.

This car comes to mind...

It's a Gazelle. Kit car, 1920s Mercedes lookalike. Obviously, there are some differences, but it's kind of close.

Don't know what it is, but I'd like to know how much lift those fenders create. I read that the '84 Fiero front shape generates 100 lbs lift at 60 mph; those big wings over the front wheels look like an aerodynamic nightmare!

Probably the smallest car that only gets 4MPG at 60MPH!

Do you figure it requires a pilot's license?

Lol! I think the ailerons would fold up before lift off... maybe wheelie-bars just in case...

My 'knows a lot of old cars' friend thinks it's a custom build.

I might have been inclined to use the tire-hugging style fenders like Patrick's banana car or the Prowler...
