I have a friend tell me today that all of Trump's picks are unqualified and have no business being in those positions.

My other friend responded with this video:

"Biden's current HHS Secretary..."

https://x.com/Theblackfemin.../1857913336643686863

It makes me think... taking this individual for example. Has this person actually done anything as director of HHS? Or... has the deputy director been doing all the work and this person is just figurative and comes in to work on occasion and signs some stuff? I have to really question this narrative my friend had (about them being unqualified)... I have the impression that someone like RFK Jr. is going to go in there with some real purpose, and real interest to change things. He kind of leads a movement, if you will...

What about Trumps picks does he not like ?

Your friend is a leftoid with TDS.

Hahah.. well, my friend is a cool guy... so I'm not going to make fun of him, but... he does not like Trump. He's... cautiously optimistic about RFK Jr.

One of the first things that a good manager learns is to appoint someone to be charge of an area that the appointee is critical of.

Would like to think I was a good manager/boss. I always looked for folks who had a go getter attitude and was willing to hit the tarmac on the run.

Experience is/was always a plus but, not always a thing that qualified the person for the job.

I can name several true examples but, I doubt some folks would accept it as truth.

Ugh, it's so ridiculous... that person was insane, and never did any work at all.

Technically though, he wasn't a cabinet member like the HHS secretary was. The HHS secretary had to get confirmed by the Senate, but this other person was given a political appointment. He was basically a civilian senior staff member, like an SES-1 or something... basically a deputy director of a sub department of a directorate of an agency.

Full stop, Dr. Oz and Tulsi Gabbard are terrifying in those positions. I can make those arguments if you want, but I imagine everyone here already knows what I'd have to say there. Some are wacky, like Elon Musk and RFK Jr., and seem to be more in the vein of "fox running the chicken coop." I think that (and the idea that a manager should be critical of the department they manage) is a misplaced idea and is going to work out poorly, but I'm interested to watch it play out.

To a large extent, these seem to be "folks I saw on TV and liked what they had to say" type picks. If Pete Hegseth wasn't picked for exactly that reason I'd like to hear what it is. It certainly isn't his resume.

...but I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised by any of this. The willy-nilly picking of right wing celebrities and political commentators is on brand for Trump's style of sticking-it-to-the-other-guy politics. I was more surprised there wasn't a spot for Jordan Peterson or Joe Rogan than anyone who was actually chosen.

Do you have hands on experience in changing the culture in an organization that is not performing as it should?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Since you have stated that you are unwilling, or unable, to cite any then we are justified in either ridiculing or ignoring you.

What extraordinary claim did I make? I'd be more than willing to provide evidence. Just because I think self-citation is weak doesn't mean I have no citation. Given your comment I think maybe you missed that?

If you really wanna perv my background DM me your LinkedIn and I'll add you. I'm still not going to cite myself, though

You realize you're shitting on someone with a MS from MIT, years of experience as a senior policy analyst, and director-level positions at multiple companies and agencies...because they're bald and look weird.
Do you have an issue with how this person executed their role, or does it end with "they make my peepee feel funny when I look at them"?

Edit: did some digging; they also apparently like to steal ladies luggage. While that's hilarious, I'm still not sure it impacts how one would perform as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition. That seems a pretty obscure role to be obsessing about 2 years after the person left office, but I'm not here to kink shame.

What's wrong with that ? Having a MS from MIT is notable but does not make him a god. Have you not read up on his vetting ? In all of his years of experience, what did he accomplish which is notable ? How has he shaken up the world in safe Nuclear waste disposal ?

A Master of Science degree is typically granted for studies in sciences, engineering and medicine and is usually for programs that are more focused on scientific and mathematical subjects; However, different universities have different conventions and may also offer the degree for fields typically considered within the humanities and social sciences. Well, thought I'd check in and see how and where the picks are going. Saw that former Rep. Gaetz has withdrawn from contention but, apparently that's now longer the preponderance or topic of this thread.

On the other hand, I could have gone all day without seeing those pictures.

You hyper focused on one thing I said and seem to have missed the rest. Sam Brinton's education is part of their overall profile, and if you compare that to the other folks who have held that position you'll find it's comparable to most, and considerably better than some. This is an obscure position to obsess over, this person isn't an outlandish choice on paper, and what they accomplished is very middle-of-the-road. Also, their MS in in Nuclear Science and Engineering, which I think you'd have to squint pretty hard at to confuse with a humanities degree.

I don't think Gaetz was ever a serious pick. I think someone already said it in the other thread, but he seemed more a "shake 'em up"-type pull.

Most people that disliked Sam Brinton did/do so because he's a thief and a liar as well as being so dumb, that even with all that education, he wasn't intelligent enough to learn that stealing and lying is wrong. It wasn't the luggage that he wanted. He wanted the articles of clothing within.

The Left loves their idea of an "expert state" to think, decide and manage for them. with some sort of "magical wisdom" that they believe comes along with that expertise.

Academic achievement is not always an indicator of professional or social success and most certainly not wisdom.

It is worth remembering that Ted Kaczynski, "The Unabomber" also considered deviant sexual fantasies of becoming female and was a highly accomplished mathematician and university professor..

Like Ted Kaczyynski, Sam Brinton is a profoundly mentally ill and dysfunctional individual.

Did I miss the rest, or was it unimpressive to me ? You yourself say his standing is comparable to most. Middle of the road ? So why pick him ? Did ... I am not making this up ...

Look at Sam Brinton's bio at Wikipedia. Indubitably written by him/her self.

So why pick him ? Because he checks a box ? Perhaps tickles a box.

I know not what or how he performed his job nor do I feel weird when I look at him. Nor does he/she/they make my peepee feel funny when I look at him/her/them"?

Did anything he accomplish impress you ? What did he do ? Perhaps he picked winners and losers for contracts he approved.

Literally anyone with a Bachelors degree of a 3.5 GPA and higher from literally any regionally accredited college can get an MS from MIT. Getting a BS from MIT, that's the hard thing to get... an MS is just a pay to play thing for most of these ivy league schools. I get e-mails all the time asking me... begging me to sign up for a Masters program with MIT.

How hard is it to get invited to deliver a lecture at MIT?

I know someone who has been invited, and done it,,,,,,twice....

You don't talk a lot about your background at all... but I know from being on here long enough you've got a couple of engineering degrees and done quite a few awesome things in your past.

But yeah, I'm not pissing on Masters Degrees, or an MS from a good school. It's just that there's no real competition for a Masters. So anyone that meets the minimum requirement gets accepted. A Masters is really meant to be a specialization for someone who's already in the workforce, but wants to learn something new without having to go back to school and re-take all the humanities and other courses that are required in a bachelors program.

If I had to rank degrees in difficulty, I'd literally put it like this:

Associates
Masters
Bachelors
Doctorate

People don't realize how easy a Masters is.

I mean, you can't go from like, a BA in English Literature and then get a Masters in Computer Science. But you can go from a BS in Computer Science, and get a Masters of Legal Studies, etc.

Look at Sam Brinton's bio at Wikipedia. Indubitably written by him/her self.

You are missing my point. Compare them to the other folks that have filled that role; they are as qualified as anyone who has filled it. They are a very well qualified candidate. Name something you are unhappy with about how they performed in that role please.

Just guessing here, but I don't think this person spends much time tickling the box. I'd say they were picked because they were well qualified and performed well in the role. Given that no one here seems to be able to come up with any issues with how they performed, I'd say that's pretty well accepted.

No. I knew nothing about this person until members of this forum posted pictures of them over and over, and you all's interest in this person seems to be entirely focused on how they look when all dolled up (otherwise the inability of anyone to even comment on their policy is odd). If it isn't a weird sexual thing...what's the fascination? Why do a bunch of post-middle-aged men have so many pictures of this gender fluid person?

This, like so much of what you say, is completely incorrect. I'd bet a hot tamale you also can't provide a screenshot of one of those emails addressed to you.

I'm starting to realize you have a lot of opinions, but without a lot of background or exposure...

I delete almost all my spam e-mails, but this is one that I got last week that I haven't deleted yet... it's not a Masters, but it's part of their Executive Leadership Training programs.

I get this **** constantly, and also from Columbia and Harvard as well.

I have two Masters Degrees, and five Masters Certificates, two of them from ivy league schools (on in cyber security, another is a law degree). It was not hard. And... so we're clear, I'm not bragging, it literally was not hard, just takes a commitment. My Associates degree was from a Community College, and my bachelors degree was from a private Catholic university (it was a good school, just not ivy league). I never would have been accepted to those ivy league schools out of high school. But again, if you have good grades from a regionally accredited 4 year degree program, you can get into any one of these schools. I was also just accepted to another ivy league school, and I'm getting a Masters degree in psychology... it'll take me like 4 years because I'm only taking 1 class a semester. Work pays for it sometimes, sometimes I pay for it myself.

A MASTERS degree, is not what you think it is... it's a way for an adult to learn new things in another area from their bachelors. Sometimes... people get the same Masters degrees as their bachelors... which allows you to take MORE of the classes (electives) and specialize further. But it's not like some super hard degree.

Here's a link to a Reddit post, where most certainly everyone is liberal, they're all saying the same thing:

https://www.reddit.com/r/gr..._easier_to_get_into/

A masters program is easier to get into. They're considered "cash cows" for these universities. There are far fewer people applying for a Masters program, so the demand is less.

I don't have a Ph.D, and no intention of getting one... but to be clear, a Masters degree is almost always easier than the equivalent bachelors degree. But a Ph.D... that's a whole other ball game. It's the hardest degree to get (though as I said, I don't have one, but most of the people on my team have one, and it's brutal for them).

Oddly enough, it was a mailer like that that prompted me to enroll in the MIT Sloan MBA program many years ago.

At the time I thought it would be one of the most "prestigious" accomplishments I would ever do.

It has turned out to be a marvelous wall decoration.

Compared to my engineering academic work, that MBA was relatively easy and actually fun.

Without a doubt, THE hardest academic work I ever accomplished was my language training at the DLI at Monterey, CA

https://www.dliflc.edu/

52 weeks of almost 24/7 classes and study just to get an AA in foreign language, (I was able to later convert it to a BA in Farsi and to also get another BA in Urdu), I was already fluent in German, Norwegian and Swedish along with a smattering of Russian but that 52 weeks at DLI almost kicked my butt.
