I fail to see how anyone would actually have a problem with this. Well, other than the criminals, and those who have to pay the bills to make it happen.
Raydar, thanks for posting that. Hopefully, things can now return to some sense of "normalcy".

Man, if I wasn't present for the last 12 pages, I'd think you didn't think anything of it. But I noticed you got super quiet when Mexico folded... I suspect you knew Trudeau did too.
It's OK to eat crow once in a while Patrick. There's 12 pages of it here for you to feast on.

Now you're just being a dick.
Why would I have much to say about what Mexico did or didn't do?
In regards to who "folded"... where there any tariffs levied on Canada? No, there wasn't. Was it due to Canada's implementation of added border security (which Trump was made aware of weeks ago), or was it due to Trump finally realizing these tariffs were going to backfire in his face? I guess we'll never know.
There's nothing in this now 13 page thread that I regret posting. At least I didn't make an azz of myself by posting this type of jingoistic crap...
Patrick, I re-wrote that dozens of times because every other way I wrote it, I felt like it would be too harsh.
You're upset because you could not have been more wrong in all of this, than you are right now. And I know the worst thing in the world for you is to be proven wrong... and you can't semantic your way out of it.
No disrespect, I mean that... but I'm wrong all the time, doesn't bother me in the least.

I mean, he has every right to be annoyed... I'd be pissed to if another country was forcing us to do things. That's basically what the last four years with Biden was like.
Trump has stated that on Day One of his presidency, he will mandate a 25% tariff on all imports from Canada, Mexico and China. I suspect he's simply posturing (for his ego), but we'll see.
Were the tariffs levied? No. Was that due to Canada's compliance and/or push back, or was Trump bluffing all along? We'll never know.
However, I'll leave this little gem for your perusal.
Todd didn't accuse me of lying, cheating and smuggling.
This is apparently an accusation that I accused you of lying, cheating and smuggling. I don't remember doing that so, I went back and re-read every posting I made. Not once did I accuse you of any of those things. Questioning something you posted isn't accusing you of lying. Cheating and smuggling? Never mentioned.
Although, constantly you have consistently made rude remarks and comments about (not just my posts) people and posts that didn't see the issues as you do.
Before making such accusations, maybe you should look in a mirror.
Edited: Regardless of all of that, DJT has postponed any tariffs on both Canada and Mexico. I believe this is being done to actually see if those two countries fulfill their promises.

Please don't play dumb. I had posted a link to azzhole banned member Furgal making those totally unsubstantiated claims in an old thread about cross-border purchases, and you thought it was perhaps funny to imply that Furgal was right. That crossed the line, even here in P&R. I found no humour in this, and let you know in no uncertain terms.

In any post, did I accuse you of lying, cheating or smuggling? Didn't think so. In fact, I know so. Just because you think something doesn't make it true. Do you believe anyone else thought the things you said or implied were humorous?
Grow up Patrick, you're acting like a school yard bully that's not getting the attention he thinks he deserves.
I'm not the one that believes "Arguing is half the fun in P&R is half the fun!

How about this, let's ignore each other's posts for a while.
Excellent suggestion. In the meantime, you can refresh your memory by reading This. That and the dozen posts afterwards should help fill in the gaps in your recollection of comments made.

I've got something to say.
The engines on an oil rig needed many more oil changes because of time of use. Available was a service which sucked the old oil up through the dipstick tube. The oil filters were also mounted at about shin level on the side of the engine.

Cliff, that's not "car talk". It's engine stuff, maybe oil stuff but, not car talk. So, let'r Rip.

Seems to be a fair amount of lack of knowledge here.
With regards to oil - several refineries in the US are configured to process Canadian heavy crude. The oil that the US produces flows more like water. And since light oil is usually much purer when it comes out of the ground, it’s very different to refine. You don’t need all the clever technologies they have in American refineries. American refineries simply aren’t equipped to deal with oils with an API gravity lighter than 30 (which your shale oil is). So sure the US "could" begin to refit its refineries so they’re compatible with domestic shale oil. But up until now no-one thought that was worth doing because a) it’s very expensive b) it would take a long time and c) since the US industry makes comparatively more money from importing comparatively cheap oil (the heavy stuff sells for less) and selling their expensive, light oil overseas.
edit to add: remember it was Trump that also pushed to have the Keystone XL pipeline built (permits approved in 2019) to bring all that nasty not needed Canadian oil during his first term, until Biden canceled it in 2021...

Can't argue with you about much of that and won't. I'm simply not qualified.
But the American people want secure borders and if there's a price to pay, they sent a mandate to Washington DC.
Should there be a shortage of oil best for refining, there are always other options/sources available. I sincerely hope tariffs don't have to be employed but I don't have a vote in that and I want secure borders. If, there's a price to pay, so be it. There's little doubt that more terrorist cells made it into the US under Biden. There's also no doubt which countries will pay a higher price.

Hell, I also want secure borders. We put up with a lot of crap during emperor Trudeau's term in office with all the illegals coming here because he "opened" the borders to everyone - only for them to come a suck on the Canadian tit and taking money away that could be used to help Canadians. Only now are the Libtards saying that they made a mistake and now want to limit immigration - but I suspect this is just trying to save their jobs on the upcoming election....

While I have read some about Canada's immigration policies, I won't pretend to be an expert. Securing both countries borders would be an improvement for all concerned (except for Cartels and those supporting human and drug trafficking. It's truly a shame it took so much to get this started. I don't agree with everything DJT says or puts out as policy but, securing our borders is one of the biggest reasons he won. The USA, Mexico and Canada will be better off with a controlled/secured border. If, Canada or Mexico wants to continue their past immigration policies, so be it, just keep those immigrants from illegally crossing our shared borders.
