Trump can "mention" tariffs all day long. Did he implement them today, Day 1? No, he did not. So much for his "vow".

Do you realize that "vow" is not his words. It is CNN's headline?

The American people don't care if the tariffs happen on Jan 20, Feb 1st or never. What we want are fair trade deals. You have been told many times that Trump makes outlandish statements as part of his negotiation and deal making strategy. You take his statements at face value and fall for it every time.

What word would you suggest that CNN should've used instead?

President-elect Donald Trump on Monday promised massive hikes in tariffs on goods coming from Mexico, Canada and China starting on the first day of his administration.

The move, Trump said, will be in retaliation for illegal immigration and “crime and drugs” coming across the border.

On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.

I think this gives him time to negotiate with both leaders. But I'd think they really shouldn't challenge him.

All I can say is, it's going to be a very long four (possibly twelve) years for some.

I am curious as to how.

Patrick, today is day one. Yesterday was only one half of a day. He got a lot done yesterday and also was very busy attending all of the ceremonies to honor him.

It takes time to put the mechanics of actions in to start working. He has not even had his cabinet approved.

Worry on. He said he was going to create an EXTERNAL Revenue System, to tax the world instead of us American citizens so heavily by our Internal Revenue System.

Is that how you'd respond in this situation... just roll over and acquiesce? Trump's going to find that he's got opposition from every angle, both from within and outside of the US. By the end of his term, he's going to be even more of a shell of a man.

His words were clear enough to most of us. He's referring to 4 years for DJT, then 2, four year terms for JD Vance.

As I said, yesterday was day one. Trump announced he put the wheels in motion and expects the 25% tariff on Mexica and Canada to take effect February second.

Why is the Trump family so revered by certain PFF members here? Is it because of their deep religious convictions? If so, watch the Trumps (and Vance) squirm during this church service sermon.

Silly question.

DJT's base crosses over many different demographics and religions and non-religious groups. His win was historic, one heck of a comeback from all the political prosecutions and allegations. Just curious, when will Canada pick a new Prime Minister? Being rudderless must cause some anxiety for many.

Yeah, so? How does that explain Trump's uneasiness during the sermon? He's such a "Godly" man, according to his own BS. Why is he so pissed at the Episcopal bishop of Washington? Didn't like her Christian take on national issues? Poor little Donny.

Justin Trudeau Announces His Intention to Step Down as Liberal Leader

"At a news conference in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces his intention to step down as prime minister and Liberal leader once his party has chosen a new leader."

That should allay your concerns.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I expect you to be upset. I would be upset too if I was being bullied into something. But Canada is not without criticism. They already have tariffs on US products in a form of tax on any products that aren’t made in Canada. This violates USMCA in a roundabout way. So I’m glad that Trump is being forcefull with them.

My point though is that Canada will absolutely lose this fight, and will only hurt itself in the process with zero gain. What I’m saying is, Canada has zero options.

Not so, Canada does not tariff US made items, they tariff other countries like China, but not made in USA, they charge sales tax at the border, which is standard practice for both countries as far as I know, same as having to pay sales tax on a used car, the tax has already been paid by the first owner (in the origin country) but local tax gets charged again on resale of vehicle or importation. Our sales tax just happens to be like 3 times yours.

Even if I bought some older Delco sensors that were originally made in Canada, shipped to my US address, I'd still have to pay taxes on importation, it's a sales tax that applies to all products purchased or brought into the province.

If I were him at the service, I would have got up and my whole entourage would follow me as I walked out the door. That was not a church service sermon religious message. Our right of "separation of Church and State" works both ways. Actually, Churches exist 100% tax free. If religion is preached, the church tax free exemption goes away. That nut job bishop (eek) is a political activist who has performed many a "attention grabbing" stunts. It did not take long for her to make money by appearing on all the Progressive news media, and the progressive opinionated talk show, "The View", but would not appear to be interviewed by Conservative sources.

Trump was not squirming. He was being polite as he was lectured by a liberal nut job, who used the most powerful man in the world to advance her desires, ideology, and career.

Her looks and her mention of the LGBTQ community, and her looks, leads me to believe she is a queer. I say queer because I do not know if she is L, G, B, or T.
