I was adding up the total cost of this mod (assuming you already have a drill press) including the cost of the hole saw and lights noted above. Even with the misc nuts and bolts came in under $120 and took me 2 days from scratch.
hhhmmmm...how have i been missing this thread for almost a year now? well saved to subscription and will be looking foward to your progress ..great job so far...really like what you did with the taillights.....

looks like we're state line neighbors Will. i'm new to the Fiero, but an old timer gearhead. had many street rods and customs over my 66 years. found an '84 one owner with 47k miles a few weeks ago and since i'm a sucker for low mileage one owners, just had to have it. this is an all original car in near mint condition, so i won't be modifying it any, but sure like what some of the guys on this forum are doing to the Fieros, including yours. maybe we can get together some time and talk Fieros/Cobras/hot rods. i came "this close" to buying Cobra Replica a few years ago. only thing i didn't like about it was it had a sbc in it. that and the fact my big feet would hardly fit down in the tunnel for the clutch and brake. they are very cool cars though, love the throaty sound most of them have. have fun with your build Dutch
"Dutch, we (some of the guys in KCFOG) are looking to do a weekend build here in the KC area this summer. The "Drop and Swap" we did at JimmyS' last weekend was quite informative and I think it would be great to do up here. I will keep you posted."
I like your work so far. Looking forward for updates!

Get the dimensions on the lock ring: inner size, outer size, style, and thickness and call around the local shops (think industrial services and hole-in-the-wall mechanical and/or machine shops that have been around for decades). Someone will be able to help if you can't pull a part number from the factory service manual. If you can, much better.
After all, the tilt system in the Fiero was standard GM so I hardly imagine it would be impossible to track down the proper information to get a new replacement... I'll do some digging shortly.
....the '87 and '88 senders are different but I don't know what the correct wiring should be. Anyone done this before? I really would like all the gauges function correctly. Will
Does the wiring chart here from Ogre contain the info you need? If not ...or I'm completely off track.... please ignore
It's heart transplant is scheduled for the first week of May down at Whodeanie's Customs and then it's on to the body work, now that I have all the parts I need.

Lots of bad breaks in this thread Will, but this one might just be the worst!
