That looks nice, good work!

Does anyone know if the deck lid of an 86 GT will work on my 85 Notchie SE?

Thanks

Not without swapping the rear clip, etc also. You can tell by the different vents and tail lights. They are not the same size.

It's really not that difficult but i is time consuming. Read this thread at the beggining and you wil be able to do it too. This was my first ccar fast back conversion, so I read and read and read alot to get where I was. I placed this thread up for those like me who had no clue as what to do in a conversion because there were none with picture - I LIKE PICTURES!!

Crazydragon, I've must have looked at this conversion a hundred times and have decided to "get off the pot" and do one to my 84 notchie. Can you confirm that I'll only need to tailights, rear deck and vents and sailpanel and that i can keep the side panels and rear bumper from the notchie? I think I also need the taillight wiring harness if I don't want to muck with the wiring. Have I got this right???

i followed this forum to and did it to mine and at first i ran my notchie bumpers and lower quarter panels now have gt bumpers do to a patch of black ice
you will need a fast back tail light harness and it will just plug in really easy for i dont like wiring either
Make sure you get the D rail or else things in your truck will be swimming lol no good and bolts for the gt tail lights there longer notch ones will hold them from falling but they will be lose just take your time and be nice 25+ year old plastic.
i had mine done in one night

The NEW NOSE (f355) shipped was like $625 or something.

I used my original egg crate for bumper, use my drimmel to cut some down on side so that the lights would fit properly.

We haven't sat down about anything on the GTO bumper yet,
Yes, the crate was from the original photos, you can see on page 3 or 4 I think.

We just spoke, we are both interested in doing the GTO style bumper. We will update what we come up with on another thread when we decide.

We are looking at meeting this week to look a few things over for a GTO style bumper.

I'm glad that you didn't crack yours. However, it also depends on how much glue they used on yours at the factory. SAFELY is the key word here. TRUST ME, if you do enough of these, you don't want to replace someone's top piece. Also, if you have a sunroof - well you just better loosen them bolts.

Thanks for the feedback, opinions always welcome.

Terrific points. If you've done a lot of these you've seen more variations in production and probably witnessed different results. Opinions always welcome for me as well! I just get worked up when I see "WILL" happen I guess. LOL!

I can't wait to ride in this car!! It is going to be badass!!

What kind of price are you looking at for the turbo? I wonder what the cost difference would be to just go L67?

I assume if you go turbo, you'll have to do some internal engine work to go along with it since you have the NA 3800.

According to my sources, I will not have to do any internal stuff. the ration is 9:1 anyways.
Just need tuning which I have the DHP power tuner anyways at the shop in JC.
I will need the other power log from ZZP and then the rest would be up to a fellow in NC to finish my exhaust.
However, I'm just going to go with NA until next year.
not sure about price on turbo but I was thinking of a T4 set up with liquid intercooler and pump.

Engine dropped, harness going in, getting READY!!!!!!!!!! VRoooom, Vrooooom - Mazda only wishes!!

You started this process YEARS ago. This was one of the projects that was down at Rob's before he got hit by the car. You chose another builder. Paid it off back in December (this past December or was it the one before?) and the engine is finally getting dropped out to be made ready for the engine you've had since you first took it all to Rob.

I thought I was a patient and understanding person. You Sir, are a direct decendant of Job!

Congratulations! I am extremely excited for you!
