The project is still alive but proceeding SLOWLY. Unfortunately summer comes with drawbacks, mainly time devoted away from certain projects. Take yesterday for instance: Started work a 5 AM, paving machine broke at noon with six trucks still full of asphalt mix, moved to another location to lay out the mix and spread using a motor grader, finish the day after 7:30 PM just to start the next day at 5 AM.
Weekends are usually devoted elsewhere, usually at the farm or working on vehicles. I am awaiting the front ball joint tool from Rodney so I can replace the badly worn bushings this weekend. This is on my 85 SE if you are interested. After that, transmission axle seals.
I am finishing up the board design for the volt/pressure side of the gauge pod. The pointers will be driven by stepper motors and will be significantly more accurate than the old gauges, given the oil sender is up to the task. Luckily this can be set to work with just about any oil pressure sender that will thread into the same location as the stock sender.
Please have patience, this is still moving forward but a "slightly" reduced pace.
Progress, no matter how slow, is progress some of our cars have been around 30 years, and I am sure they will be around a while longer to say the least. I would rather wait for a good product than get something that is rushed. Keep up the good work!
Everything going well other than winter kicked my butt. 140% of average snow pack, 50 MPH winds, 8+ foot drifts, and half of our crew took up all of my time this winter. 70 to 80 hours a week was average for me, one week nearly 100hrs. Never fear though, spring is finally starting to show up in these parts.
With that out of the way, I need a show of hands from those who are still interested. I know of a few so far.

A hand from me. But take that with a bit of salt. At the moment, money is extremely tight, not to mention that after this weekend my 84's engine will be on a stand getting a full gasket set and possibly a set of rings, so it will not be driving for a while.
Regardless, I am still very interested in all of this. I am a very hacker/maker type, and love electronics, so I think it would be a lot of fum to work with anyway.

I am still interested as I have been all along. I only stepped back so you could take care of family and life things, as you should and did. I still believe in you and the project, but truly hope it can come to reality soon.
Interested! Very cool work btw! to try and keep the general look of the interior, I was thinking in my head about ways to mount this either in a modified dome light unit or in the window switch face...

I have not messed with this thing at all, except long enough to set the time and date. I dont know what all it does yet, as I have had this Formula for three days now and am more concerned about fixing things so I can safely drive it. You guys know what all these buttons are for??
Its not factory if you haven't figured that out yet. It is a trip computer hacked in from either a Buick or Cadillac I believe. It is in place of the power mirror and window controls when the option is installed.
Not too hard to do, but not really the nicest looking in my opinion. IF it works and is accurate, more than just the clock, it may be cool I guess to keep it, but if it was my car I would take it out and go back to a stock panel. At the very least spend the time to make sure the install is reasonably well done and the wiring in good shape.

This is my fourth Fiero, I know it is not stock. I thought that the guy that started this thread, may have seen this install before, and thought he may know where it came from and what it does.
It is funny that earlier in this thread, you are very interested in a multi-function computer, but then suggest I switch mine back to a stock panel.

LOL!
Anyhow, as someone asked above, have you been able to determine if any of it works at all? It would be really cool if the previous owner did get that all to work. Distance to empty, average fuel economy ect.
Many of us have been patiently waiting to see where the trip computer in this thread goes. This thread seems to pop to the top about twice a year or so. It would be a great addition to our Fieros if he is able to get it all up working and available. It takes time, money and a lot of work to do something like this.
Yeah, when I get the Formula fixed up so I can drive it everyday, I will see what all this does. Again, I thought someone here would know where this panel came from. Hope the person that started this, is having luck with his project!!
They may still be available sometime in the near future. Unfortunately life has been something that has taken priority over everything else. I do apologize for the lack of updates, frankly I forgot.
