I'm a greenhorn on this forum so please be kind. I tried to search the topic in previous threads but none were completely on point. My issue is in order to swap in a 3800sc from a 1998 Buick Regal in Cali (from what I understand) I'll need to also use the donor car's gas tank sender and gas tank pressure sensor plus the entire EVAP system. Has anyone ever had to install a pressure sensor on a fiero gas tank before? ...and no, moving out of Cali is not an option.

Doesn't the entire sender/pump unit for the 3800 tank fit in the Fiero tank hole?

You also have to run the fuel level sender through the PCM.

You have to use both the evap purge and evap vent solenoids.

I haven't had my hands on a 3800 sending unit and was unfamiliar with gas tank pressure sensors. That makes perfect sense that it's part of the sending unit! Thanks, and Yes, I was told the sending unit will go straight into the fiero tank as almost all GM tanks are pretty much the same.

I also thought the fuel pump along with the pressure sensor would fit. Turns out that the 3800 fuel pump is too large to fit the fiero tank. I ended up using a fuel pump from an 88 corvette and running the pressure sensor in line. Works and I passed California BAR about a month ago.

Mount the fuel tank pressure sensor in the fuel filler steel tube just below the gas cap this area is accessible with the wheel well removed and keeps from drilling a hole in your fuel tank. Some of the early to mid 90's cars also had a round charcoal canister with the needed EVAP solenoid right on it that are just a little larger then the Fiero canister so it will fit in the stock spot then that just leaves the solenoid on the engine.
This is what I have done in the past for California customers when making kits and they had no problems with it. Dan
