I need to get an alignment and I thought I had saved a pdf file from here showing the alignment specs but I don't. I tried searching for it, but couldn't find it again. Can someone post it, or let me know what the specs are? Its for 87 SE 2.8 5spd.
He didn't want to adjust the front caster at all. Said that required special shims. True, but I had made the appointment a week prior, asked them TWICE if there would be any problem doing a Fiero. Twice I was answered, No problem.
At that point, I had to assume they knew what they are getting into and that they had the equipment, parts, and know-how to make it all work.
All he adjusted was the right rear camber and then re-adjusted the toe in the rear on both sides.
I don't know if this is "good enough" or if it needs more attention. I have only driven through town back home since the service. I'll take it on the highway later this afternoon.
My major complaint was that the car felt "nervous" going in a straight line. Nothing too bad but it seemed like I had to consentrate on keeping the car straight more than I thought I should. Also, the wheel was a little tilted to the right and the steering felt too easy. It almost felt loose. This is my first GT so I don't know if this is a difference in the steering ratios or something else.
On the drive home, the looseness felt better. Pretty good, in fact. Can't really complain about that at this point. That could totally change on the highway, though.
So, I guess my point is, I don't know if I need to be upset with the service or not. My cost was $65. ------------------ Jonathan
One more thing, does it matter what wheels it has on when the alignment gets done. I mean, right now its on the 14" stock rims, or should I switch back to the 17" that I normally have on it before getting the alignment done?
I wouldn't know as im taking my car in to get done, but maybe you could start another thread to see if you get more vies and someone might have the answer. I did find the pdf file I was looking for, searched from google and found it. home.comcast.net/~fierocave/FieroAlignment.pdf
$65 isn't bad for an alignment. Half of the process is actually setting up the equipment to the car and getting the base readings. Adjusting the suspension usually isn't very difficult with the exception of front caster. Your front camber and caster looks good. The toe in was off in front and needed a bit of adjustment. The RR camber was way off and the toe in will always need to be adjusted when rear camber is adjusted. By adjusting the toe in on both sides he probably kept the thrust angle within specs. If you post the "after" specs we could advise on the final adjustments. If it handles better you are probably good to go.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear. Plus for you, Sir! I wasn't able to get a shot of the After numbers. He turned it off too soon. He didn't do anything to the front so those numbers didn't change. I do feel an improvement. I just wonder if I would be able to notice an additional improvement if the front was adjusted.

I always preferred to set toe in at zero or slightly negative (towed in). Hard to say if you'd feel a difference, but it wouldn't hurt anything to reduce the front end toe closer to zero.
I'm going in later today to get my toe and rear camber adjusted.
I want a little toe in because somewhere I read said that the car will toe out a little at speed. making the feel "neutral/nervous" toe in keeps straight line stability, makes it feel "tight"
I also saw somewhere the factory settings, and then someone posted revised settings because of "a,b,c." reasons.

the alignment specs are supposed to be EXACTLY the same for the 84-87 models. since they share the same suspension. the 88 alignment is slightly different, I will review the factory specs I printed out, and also post on what my specs are at and how much it cost me ^_^
