OK, Im going to start my Big Brake upgrade (87 gt with vette rotors and using 88 calipers)

My question is there any factory 5x100 spares from other cars that will clear the calipers and fit in the front compartment either inflated or deflated---

I know that WCF mods factory spare rims, just want to try and find one in the local bone yard

I have the LeBaron 11.25" brake rotor upgrade on my 87 GT.

I got a Subaru Forester SUV spare wheel - 16" on 5x100 at Pick n Pull.
Fits, but center whole need to be enlarged slightly.
I just ran a Dremmel grinder round and round to do this.

The Subaru wheel came with a T135/70/16 tire - too big for the Fiero's wheel tub.

I ordered a new Firestone T115/70/16 that fits the Fiero wheel tub perfectly.
('96 Subaru Legacy car supposedly comes with T115/70/16)

Some Mazdas also have this size of spare tire, but you'd need a Subaru wheel.

Some newer cars have the 17" and 18" spare wheel.

These are 5x100 wheels but I don't know how they fit the Fiero.
Also, I expect the tires to be too big for the Fiero spare tire tub.

I know the price is a lot more, but you could look at run-flat tires and ditch the spare.

Or you could get a kit that contains SLIME and an air pump to fix minor issues... not really that helpful, but an option.

If you can find a 17" 5x100 spare wheel, there is a tire that should fit the tub.

I did the same thing as fierosound. I got a Subaru spare wheel that was 16" on 5x100 at Pick n Pull.
I cut out the center hole to fit the fiero diameter. It barely fits under the weatherstripping with the hood closed but it works fine. I also have an optima red top up front and the tire actually provides decent support for the battery over the top.

I have the 12 inch vette rotors with the 88 calipers on an 88GT.

That's big!! A T125 would fit better. T115 is best.

Good to know. In my case, I needed the smallest tire (T115/70R16) to fit under my amp.

A friend and I were at Pick n Pull yesterday. We found a BRAND NEW T115/70R16 in a Chevy Sonic (got it for $13).
It's the right tire to fit the Fiero's spare tire tub - but the wheel bolt circle is wrong.
He'll need a Subaru 16" spare wheel (usually have the big T135 tire) and swap the tire over.

Tried that and a tire shop in Michigan said it was illegal to swap the tires, was that total BS or what ?

I don't know for certain, but that sounds like BS. You can buy replacement spare wheels and replacement spare tires from Tirerack so it seems they should be swappable.

I picked up a subaru spare wheel with 135/70-16(Too big) and found some other spare with the 115/70-16 tire I needed, then went to Big O and had them swap it- There may be some variability in state laws, but I think that sounds like BS. Find another tire shop.

I just carry a couple of cans of fix a flat - and I have a CAA membership .Saves the weight of the spare tire too . The last time I needed a spare tire because of a flat was over 20 years ago .

I've been thinking about the same subject recently. I have vette rotors on my Formula and been wondering about a spare that will fit. All great info, thank you to all.

This is the first time I've come across your amp setup. Guess I know what to do now! And...uh...guess it explains your name!

You just don't know.
Nicest system I've ever seen/heard in a Fiero.
