Use the 1/4" Window Weld ribbon from 3M. Once you apply it and join the lenses, let the lenses sit in the sun for a while to soften the ribbon and make a complete seal.

Edited to provide seller that ships to Canada.

Note that taillights aren't total sealed... They have vents hidden at bottom.

GM use "old style" windshield sealant, like 3M above, to keep out major dirt and water.

If sealant is to thick... let it warm then just pull to thin out a section.

The link I posted above is what you need. I don't understand your extreme concern with the Fiero Store tape since they just sell a generic butyl product. No one uses it because they get it cheaper elsewhere. The link I posted is going to save you money on the part plus the shipping. If you want even cheaper, here is a link to the same 3M product in bulk so they don't include the 3M box for $12.95. Now you'll save $12.00 over the Fiero Store.
http://www.amazon.com/o/ASI...H4/?tag=butyltape-20

Also the product that jaskispyder posted is the same thing....just pre-cut into small strips.

Before you seal it, (If haven't done this) paint the reflectors bright gloss white or spray chrome.
edit-> I've try gloss white today... Don't like it and look a dimmer that OE which used spray chrome. (I have extra w/ crack cover)
White make BU whiter w/o bulb on.

Look in spray paint aisle. Is not hard to find at many stores.

Make sure you clean oil/dirt but remember that Many auto chemicals can eat plastic. Use bathroom tub cleaners, 409, etc...
