Acid Wet? or just water?

Acid wet is a big problem.
Battery "boiling" cause acid leaks from over charge can kill them fast.
new Battery is bad from store

Check volts at battery
when engine runs.
battery disconnected 1-4 hours

Dieing/dead battery can be cause other things on... See my Cave, Battery Leaches

To determine if it is water or not, sprinkle some baking soda on the liquid and see if it bubbles.....battery acid will bubble. Rinse the surrounding metal with lots of water or you will have corrosion problems.

If you are needing to pull the battery every night to keep it from draining then you have other problems. While cold is not exactly great for car batteries it won't "zapem". I don't drive my Fiero in the winter but my truck's battery and my wife's Jeep's battery do just fine all winter long. Lowest temps they'll see all year are probably around -15ish (Fahrenheit), maybe lower, maybe higher.

+1 Cold temperatures don't kill a battery.

The biggest reason for acid leakage on a new battery is overcharging. That could be caused by a bad alternator...which in turn may be the source of your current draw (which forces you to take the battery out.....)

so If you determine that the battery leaks, suspect your alternator.

Shouldn't If you drive every day or three and weather < 0°F.
Don't drive enough or have float charger connected and load for ECM and Radio standby power can drain a cold battery enough to allow it to freeze. Most times, Frozen battery is junk even then thawed.

Agreed. The alternator may be overcharging OR you're boiling the battery. Do you have the heat shield in place?

Most times... Over charging and/or dead cell cause battery boil.

Missing heat shield won't. Can shorten battery life etc but not boil.
