so I order the ac delco ep381 fuel pump kit. it came with the pump ,the filter , clamps. hose .. but no wire haress or connectors? I have the instuctions though. lol so the fiero is in the driveway all the way jacked up fuel tank is out and old pump also. and im stuck. is there a way around this? packing this thing up and shipping it back and waiting for an other is crazy when the car and me are ready now. lol and I really don't want to take car down and wait coulpe more days . please help.

I bought this same pump and had a similar issue.

If you have a 12 volt power supply you can do this inside and out of the weather, otherwise you can use the wiring connector from the car.

Take some extra wire and connect one to each side of the power supply, or one in each side of the cars fuel pump connector.
Then touch each wire to the wires on the pump (mine had wires just no instructions).

The pump should work no matter what orientation the wires are, it will just pump in the opposite direction.
You can test this by putting the pump in a small amount of fuel to see what way it is flowing.

I would recommend once you figure out the correct wiring, to solder and heat shrink the connections.


This is not a direct replacement pump which is why there is no connector directly to the Fiero wiring harness.

hey im going to look for your number and text you a pic. im just missing the quick connector with the red and black wire on it to splice onto the fieros old wire . I really don't want to send new stuff back for all that. just a little part. plus im in florida so weather isn't an issue other than being close to 90 today and gettng cooked in the sun. im getting a good tan though. painting parts and gas flumes plus outside heat equal headache.lol

Did the same with mine.

Well i figured it out tank is back in car and car is back on ground. I cut some wire off an old sending unit i had and took a connector off the other end of it. Took it apart for the two slip on connectors and found pos. and neg. fuel pumped out then i hooked everything up. So im good again. Till tomorrows next adventure. Lol switching throttle cable with a v6 cable and finish mounting that. My 3 piece cherry bomb exhuast system came so ill be welding that up .

Bringing this back from the dead

Just had a friend go through this problem with the EP381 pump on his 86 GT.

The EP381 pump uses a square connector.




The pigtail needed looks like this.

That's exactly why it pays to shop local for car parts.

That's why I use the Bosch 69225 pump. It has higher capacity and with the included harness adapter, is a direct plug in replacement. with a short piece of J30R10 submersible fuel injection hose that's all there is to it.

This might not be a big deal to most, but I have been hearing about "submersible fuel hose" for years. Here, and elsewhere.
