Thank you for sharing your fabrication skills. The aggressive undertaking of the N* swap is admirable. You can now try putting the 3400TDC swap in the mall to pay for some of the new swap.
The stock Fiero fuel pump will most likely not keep up with the needs of the free breathing 4.6L N*.
The pump on my 3800SC swap is the Bosch 69225 . It is a turbine type pump which is used on the 7.4L GM truck engines. So far it has kept up with the engines needs even at 11 psi of boost. Some engine swaps have reported good results with the AC Delco EP-381. There are many choices of fuel pumps and most are either direct fit or go in with simple modifications. There are many fuel pump threads in the archives.
IMO. you have fabricated an elaborate exhaust system. It looks rather complex but was this to achieve equal length runners? Will this system fit without cutting the trunk? Interesting thread. Keep the pictures coming.

Thank you for the compliments!! The exhaust I built was to have equal length runners and to have an exhaust pulse come into each collector every 180 degrees of crank rotation, it improves scavenging in the exhaust and increased power if done properly. I have the lower half of the trunk cut out for the exhaust. Im still going to have some trunk space in the back, but only about half of the original space.

Well planned and excellent exhaust skills. As for the trunk, many swaps have given up part of it for the fitting of a performance exhaust system but if I cut away part of my trunk; my wife who normally travels with 12 pieces of luggage (for one overnight) would no longer travel with me on a overnight trip to Carlisle. In all honesty I like what little space there is but that's just me. Bmwguru narrowed his trunk for his Magnaflow exhaust. If its still tall enough to fit the spare the front compartment may offer some storage possibilities but Dave is the one to ask.

Well planned and excellent exhaust skills. I am just curious as to the effect of the long runner lengths and the numerous bends on the power curve.

I geuss im lucky my fiance packs fairly light lol. I dont know that I will ever take any long trips with the car so alot of space for luggage is not a huge deal to me. I just want enough room for groceries or some supplies to bring with me if I decide to take it to a track.

I did some more work on the wiring harness tonight. the harness from the megasquirt to the firewall is almost done and I started the engine to firewall harness. I also picked up exhaust gaskets, water pump belt, and belt tensioner. heres a pic of the engine harness

Glad to see another person wiring everything on the kitchen table, no doubt to the wife's delight!

My wife was cursing for hours when I did my 4.9 there...

I removed the lower portion of the trunk on all three of my Fieros and I haven't missed it. Usually, the misc crap just ended up there and if you are not taller than 5'5", it is hard to reach the bottom of the trunk (from what I have been told). There is increased airflow over the engine to cool the compartment, better options for exhaust, and I can fit two duffel bags in the rear trunk and one in the front for trips.

So I got my motor back from my buddy. He didnt have time to get to put inserts in so im gonna do it myself. I just ordered the ns300l inserts from norm. I decided to go for them instead of timeserts because they are about a half inch longer which I think will give more for the insert to grab on to. I started drilling and tapping the block, ill post some pics soon. So far so good, the bolt holes are not detriorated.

first time posting on the forum but been getting info off of it for some time now. Saw your thread and decided to chime in. I currently am putting a 99 n☆ in my 85 gt. Got it running just this past weekend for the first time. Been a long time waiting. (What a wiring hell!) I am doing mine a bit different from you though I believe. I pulled everything electronic out of the cadillac and installed it into the fiero down to the power windows and radio. Got it all tied in and working like a charm and starts with the original fiero ignition. Keyless entry from the caddy even works! Just wanted to share my experience and maybe share some info.

I thought about bringing all of the cadillac stuff into the fiero but I thought it would be alot harder to get everything working (if im wrong let me know). Glad to hear you got yours running, you should post some pics of your car. Im hoping to have mine fire up this weekend

I just took some pics of my motor and wiring, ill post them tonight when I go inside.the heads are back on now so its time to put it in the car hopefully for the last time.

i got a lot done tonight. tomorrow the motor should go in the car, i only have a few more things before it goes in. im really happy with norms inserts for the heads, they were easy to install with only a few tools and they all held nicely. ive got some pictures of what i accomplished today.

these are some of the chips from my block when i drilled it out for the inserts. all of the holes came out like this so i think i shouldn't have a problem with the inserts pulling back out.

this is just a pic of one of norms inserts

this is the wiring harness that goes from the firewall to the engine and trans. it is almost complete, i just have to finish taping it up.

inside the cab, that's what ive got going on so far. there are 2 relays under the trans controller(black box mounted where the pcm used to be). the controller for the wideband afr is under that. im going to mount the ms2 under the black plastic support for the center arm rest.

heres what i did for the serpentine belt. im not going to have ac and for obvious reasons i don't need the power stearing pump. the black idler is from a 99 jeep wrangler without power stearing, the belt is 40.5 inches long(its kinda funny how short the belt is) for the jeep pulley i used the spacer that was behind the idler that was originally in this location. i had to cut of the hat on the spacer otherwise it would have rubbed on it, i also had to put a 1/16 inch washer between the block and the spacer to get the pulleys to line up.

this is as far as i got tonight, hopefully tomorrows pictures will be of it in the car.

No I decided not to go with ac. I live in upstate ny and the summers here are normally not to bad. Plus I kinda needed the room for the headers.

Alternator is going to run pretty warm. You may want to step down from the CS144 to the CS130. My experience is that the CS144 doesn't fit between the firewall and the new cradle crossmember, meaning that you'll have to drop the cradle an inch or two to change the alternator. The CS130 has a smaller frame and comes right out.

Is that the original tensioner location? I'm formulating a way to do something like that while keeping A/C. I don't quite have enough crank pulley wrap with my current setup and I get some belt slip (visible as voltage drop on the gauge) at high RPM.

Also, what cradle bushings do you have? Still stock? Please ditch those in favor of aluminum.

That is the original location for the belt tensioner. Those are the original cradle bushings in there, the rest of the suspension has poly bushings that I put in about 2-3 months ago. I do plan on going with aluminum cradle bushings but for now it is going back in with those bushings. I want to see how the handling compares with the 3.4 tdc before I do them. It may seem stupid but I had a good feel for the car before (it had a decent amount of roll). My thinking is that the northstar has a little lower center of gravity so im expecting the handling to improve somewhat. Does the cs130 alternator bolt in where my alternator is right now, does anything have to be modified?

I wish I had went with the 130, my cs144 fits fine in and out past the cradle. .. But only after I remove the ac compressor.... Being I had to change the alt I have to have the ac recharged. The 130 would have been able to be pulled out between engine and cradle from the top... 144 is just tad bit to large..
