" Does the oil filter use a filter mounting adapter.....the type with the dual hi pressure bypass pistons (one pressure relief piston for each cylinder bank?.......could one of them be stuck open? " From this thread http://www.gmforum.com/pont...or-oil-issue-309653/
Ryan says he's never heard if a dual check valve oil filter adapter and either have I.
I gotta pull this engine out before everyone gets fed up and stops offering advice.

I don't think the "gasket" being "backward" would do anything but cut oil to the" balancer shaft". I DO think the "Crossover PASSAGE" is somehow plugged UP. Did you clean it before reinstalling ? That's the only thing it CAN be. It would have to be COMPLETELY shut off, even 5 psi of oil into that passage would "quiet" it. In the" front", (behind the timing chain) are ONLY "Plugs" that "Cap" the oil passage, if they somehow come out, oil will come out, dropping oil pressure, but they Do Not affect oil going IN. The ONLY way the oil gets in that passage is through the REAR Plate groove. After taking off the rear plate, I would run a coat hanger through Both Passageways all the way to the front, just to make sure. It is just a hollow hole from rear to front ending at the front "plug" behind the chain. (if the plug was out, you could SEE all the way through) *WHY GM did not put an" oil pressure tapped hole" at the rear of the block (like a Small block chevy) is beyond me* When you take it apart, Take PICTURES of the plate before and after Cleaning, A picture of the hanger (Wire) in the oil passage front to rear (BOTH SIDES). ** DO THIS FOR PEACE OF MIND* * While the Engine is OUT, with a Mechanical Oil gauge hooked up, Take the Spark Plugs Out ( so there is no compression) , use" jumper cables" battery to starter and crank it over, Both With and Without the "Rear Cover" On. With the cover on you will have oil pressure, Without the cover, Oil SHOULD shoot out Only the lifter bank HOLE that gets the oil First. This way you will know for SURE, that it's working the way it should "BEFORE" you go to all the work of re-installing it. PICTURES !!
OK, so it's final. I took off the rear cover plate today and the passage was clogged hard as a rock with anaerobic gasket sealer . I wasn't supposed to use any gasket sealer but I did and now I'm paying for it by redoing the area. If you look for me on Facebook you can see pictures
