Don't get the stock one, get an 17380. Look it up here and/or thank me later.

Quick question a little related but somewhat of a hijack. I apologize to the OP. Is that an 88 alternator on an 86 engine? Because when I bought an alternator for my 86 it came with a pulley that was for V belts not the multi groove type belt in your picture. I am really confused right now.

Looking at the water pump, I'd say that's an '88 engine.

You didn't get an alternator for a duke, did you? Are the mounting "ears" (or whatever they're called) opposite each other like in the picture? (This is what you want.)

Okay, let's totally knock this thread off kilter. I've always been curious what the heck this bracket is for? It's on my '86 GT and '88 Formula. I see no purpose for it

Years ago I was told that is was like a belt protector incase it snapped
the upper wiring wouldn't get damaged. Its like a shield.

Anyways, its there for a reason.

IMO it's a piss-poor location for a shield to protect the upper wiring!

Years ago I actually had a belt start to fray on my '86 GT, and before I realized what was going on it had chewed through a couple of wires in the main harness that crosses over the belt towards the power junction by the battery.

So yeah, I don't think very highly of it as a functional shield.
