Hello All, After 7 years of waiting for the right time I am finally installing the 1991 L-98 5.7L TPI into my 1988 Fiero GT. I am at the same time updating the TH125 3-speed automatic transmission with a TH440 4-speed automatic transmission. This is proving to be quite an undertaking but I have made tremendous progress and both are now fitted and mounted in the car. What I have run into is a major clearance issue with the rear sway bar and the exhaust pipe that must be routed a very specific way to clear the right side inner CV boot and the speedometer speed sensor of the TH440 transmission. There is no real way I can run the stock Fiero rear anti-sway bar and be able to route my exhaust pipe at the rear of the car without removing the truck or a good portion of it. I’m not really down for that so I am not going to use the rear ant-sway bar. I am sure I’m not the first to have run into this issue and would like to know how many of you all out there are running small block Chevy Fiero without a sway bar on the rear and how do the cars handle. Thanks for any and all input or suggestion on any aftermarket sway bar kits that were made for a 1988 Fiero that do not run through the rear of the engine cradle. Kind regards to all, Rick

With the right exhaust manifold, there should be room. Here is a 4.3/4T60 swap in and 88 with rear sway bar:

I did flip the VSS around and used 1 existing hole and the flange on the bolt for the other side:

It does take some creative pipe work to merge the both banks before the muffler:

Now for the SBC... if you can modify it to get a good seal around the ports, the DS mid 90's Camaro LT1 manifold dumps in the needed area:
